Making your own Playfield plastic's.

Surprised you have not recieved any responses. I recently saw something on this subject, maybe on someones blog of a restoration...or maybe here. It was for sling plastics. If I recall they had the graphics printed on a thin sheet of plastic. Then had a thicker piece of plastic cut and placed the two together. In their case, the backside was white, so they painted the backside of the printed plastic. I also imagine you could do a paper or card stock print and sandwich between plastic if you really wanted. The info is out there, search some of the restoration blogs.

I wonder if you could get them printed on sticky vinyl, then peel and stick them reversed on plastic.

I'm sure you can order stickers on the internet where you give them the artwork and they print out the the sticker. Then you just stick them to the backside of plastic that you cut out with a jigsaw.

I worked with plastic and it's pretty easy - just gotta get the stickers.

You can make them a variety of ways. I believe the most common is to cut the plexiglass or lexan out on a jigsaw and then sand the edges smooth. After that you just need to print out the art on a sheet of paper and use some adhesive to apply it to the underside of the plastic (you'll put the adhesive on the top side of the image).

i think you should go for it.

i think for the jigsaw blade you need to use one with lots of teeth per inch and move slow so it doesnt chip the plastic.

im not sure what they use to polish the edges, some sort of heat gun or dry glue gun turned sideways and pulled along to slightly melt the edge for a nice look. not sure what they use but if the "sticker" was applied on the top it might cover the edge problems anyway.

they sell special drill bits made for plastic. the tip is a few millimeters longer so it "plunges" through the plastic easier while spinning without cracking the plastic too.

let us know what you come up with.

What the hell is going on around here?

I have no idea whats going on. Back to the original question, seems like it's gonna be cheaper to just buy the plastic pieces I need for $12.99 each on E-bay rather then buying a jigsaw, plexi, getting the stickers to put on them, and labor involved. It pays to have all the tools ready available to make a project go smooth and inexpensive. But I'am all for trying this project in the future. Thanks for all links guys they have been bookmarked in my computer for future reference. Jeff
