Making my own arcade remake for PC - "Operation Block"

(First of all, mods.. wasn't sure if this belonged in "general arcade discussion" or "chat about anything"..
apologies if I've guessed the wrong section.)

Operation Wolf. In Lego.

Started developing this freeware fan tribute for PC 3 years ago... got a prototype working for level 1...
rested it about 18 months ago, but now determined to complete the thing.

A few piccies, and 5 days worth of "behind the scenes" stuff in the link above. :)

PS: If you're a fan of the original Operation Wolf, this month's
Retro Gamer magazine has a massive special on it.

(Still waiting for my subs copy.. come on Australia post!)

PS: Before anyone asks, no... I don't own an Op Wolf cabinet.
But one day.......

That's awesome, make sure to update us here when you finish the game!

Not to hijack the thread, but I'm actually working on game myself too, It's going to be a cross between Tac/Scan and Bosconian. I'ts going to take quite a bit of time to finish.

Thanks Hyde! :)

Yes, promise to show you some more stuff once I've got some nice
vehicles & baddies to show off.

So, what language/system are you programming your shmup with?

Hmm, I wonder how many other KLOVers are making their own games...

I'm actually using a program called GameMaker 7. (website here: http://www.yoyogames.com/gamemaker/) It's a neat freeware program that allows you to make games easily without a single line of code. However, using code is supported, and I do use bits of it here and there. I'd really suggest it to anyone who is interested in creating games for a hobby, it's a lot of fun and quite easy to learn.

Like you said, I wonder if anyone else here is working on a game for themselves. Speak up if you are!

Hmm, sounds familiar... ;)

I made my prototype in GM5.3, but I'm now at the stage of deciding
whether to move it to GM7... or wait & develop it in GM8.

I suppose I can keep working on graphics/sound/logic in the meantime,
then get back to coding later.

Yes, ditto.
