I have a customer that wants a bit of customization done to his cab. He currently has a dedicated NFL Blitz and wants me to install a NBA Jam in it also. He is not worried about extra power supplies or harnesses in the cab. My plan is to wire a double pole with center toggle switch in place of the current power switch. Then wire the Jam boards just as if the cab was empty, obviously connecting the wires from both boards at the control panel and joining them at the video sync connector also. So when he wants to play, he would flip the switch down and play Blitz and when he wants to play Jam he has to put the switch the flip to the center to let it power completely down and the flip the switch to the top to turn on Jam. If you are not already confused by my posting, does this make sense and will it work without any problems?

I'm not certain it's enough to simply have 1 board powered down, while connected to the same harness. You might need to use Diodes to essentially isolate the 2 harnesses. Does that make sense?

I would think that powering down the board and the monitor and then turning it back on with a different board powered up shouldn't be an issue. The only thing linked up would be the sync wires from both harnesses, the speakers, and the input wires for the buttons and the joysticks. The power would come from separate power supplies and the reason for the center toggle is to let the monitor power down.

Unless there are physical breaks in the relevant leads so that power cannot in any way get to the unused PCB I'd have to agree with Cliffo. (Why chance it?).
