Making a degaussing board addon

I'm working on a small project to design a degaussing PCB for boards that don't come with one (like some of the newer AliExpress models).

The idea is simple: the add-on will handle the degaussing process first, and then provide power to the video chassis.

Here's my first draft of the schematic:
What do you think? Any suggestions for improvement?

over the past few weeks i have been rebuilding many 80's monitors,
one brand has a daughter board for the degaussing coil,
i had once had your same thought, i started sorting components (buy in bulk)
but other projects have been my in need to be finished..
There are many different models of these to suit the different ohm's of the degauss coil,
so any PCB design needs to suit different needs

I need to check the Tripod they are using for the smaller video chassis. 14 to 20"
 
You can also use the 4600 style circuit. This can be done on a terminal strip if you don't use the common mode choke. I have done this on a few 6100 clones.

PTC used for degaussing monitors does not power the Chassis. It is normally connected in parallel on the AC input after the fuse and before the rectifier diodes or bridge.
Look at a few different monitor schematics and you should be able to work out a suitable circuit.
 
An old one that might help in particular is the Kaga Denshi chassis. It used a separate degauss pcb as shown in this pic (small pcb in the middle).

Here is the schematic for it. It is near the top left inside the dotted line area with connectors CN-J for AC In and CN-K for Degauss Coil.

I still have the pcb if you want me to take a pic of it instead of these old reference images.

Whatever you end up doing, make sure it is fused as a coil or PTC failure without a fuse for protection would not be pretty.
 
Hello mate. It is pretty neat, thank you ! We are thinking to add a relay that will block all current after 10 sec as extra safety.

I think I have enough info to make a test board. Thank you 🙏

it's to my understanding the degauss coil runs until the PTC gets hot. the PTC itself doesn't control the degauss coil, it just tells it to shut off after a split second. if the degauss coil ran indefinitely very not good things would happen. :)

This was the chassis i was thinking about, a few post's back.
would be a very easy clone
