Yes you can make one out of an old neck board from a tv set. This is provided that the set has a tube number that crosses to a CR23 adapter. This way you can be assured the socket will physically fit tubes matching a CR23 cross reference.

You can unsolder the socket from the neck board and simply solder new wires to the correct pin numbers. Be sure to slide some heat shrink tubing over the connection to help prevent the delicate pins from breaking off when you use the adapter. You can also just run a bead of clear silicone glue around the soldered connections which will also beef up the delicate pins after the glue has dried.

Many neckboards already have the pin numbers and function silkscreened right on the board to make it easy to identify. You can unsolder all the parts off of the neck board and then the board can have the new wires soldered directly to the socket terminals on the foil side. There's usually a hole near the edge of the board where you can wire tie the wires for a strain relief.

See my pictures for details.

Also, to help in wiring up the adapter, visit these two links:

By the way, the one shown in the pictures is one I just made and have tested. It works perfectly and is for sale. I already have a factory CR23 I use all the time.

That's bloody marvelous, Ken. I need to fix mine up in this way. I used an existing adapter and cut off the old socket to solder onto the one I pilfered from the TV I scavenged the tube from.

Thank you very much for this information Ken. I was wondering how this was done as I recently purchased a B&K rejuvinator.

I did something very similar. I desoldered the socket from a junk neckboard, then I mounted it on a small Radio Shack perf board. Had to enlarge the holes in the board to mount the socket, but it worked out well.

Bumping this old thread to ask - what are the Molex part numbers for both the pins and the housing? I was sure that I'd asked this before, but I could not find the answer.

Connector - digikey part number WM1237-ND, molex part number 03-06-1122.
Pins - digikey part number WM1001-ND, molex part number 0002061103.

Mouser part numbers (drop the 538 prefix for the Molex number):

538-03-06-1122 Molex 12 pin Female Housing (only one needed per adapter)

538-02-06-1103 Molex Female Terminal, 18-24 AWG (order 12)

BUMP this post for all of those/us buying rejuvenators for the first time and are missing the CR-23 adapter. My utmost appreciation and thanks to you, Ken. I received my B&K 470 yesterday and couldn't find an adapter that would fit (which is why I got it for $74, I'm sure).

This could definitely be a "sticky" thread, I think. Keep this thread alive, as it's still useful!!!

I need a CR23 Adapter... anyone have one to sell?
