So I have a DK machine I need to build up.. and I have dk, dkjr and dk3
boards. I might try finding a dk2 board as well.

I was thinking about making 1 machine that can run all 3 or 4 of the original
boards without manually switching cables.

If I bought Jamma adapters for each, would a jamma switcher work?
I've read Clays Jamma switchers are the best. Any other ones I should be
checking out? Any Gotchas?

Are there any other options for building a system like this?

Has anyone considered building a dedicated switcher for the DK series?
I know lots of people have Double DK systems.. this would be a 3 or 4 way
system. Anyone want to work with me to design something?

Thanks,
Mike

That would work fine. I still have a Clay Multi-Jamma kit sitting here in the box that I never used and may never use. The kit is for 2 boards, but it is expandable up to 8. I think you need one PSU for every 2 boards, so you would need at least 2 switchers.

If you set DK/D2K to free play, you won't need 2 separate boards. You can switch between the two by holding down both start buttons. Also, a Double DK is alot more simple. It's just a DK Jr board hacked to run both DK and DK Jr.

I have thought a lot about this since I have one nintendo cab and a stack of boards that can be used with it.

it was actually phets picture of a wooden box/rack for holding different vs boards that inspired the idea, that and the fact that the extra nintendo boards that I have are sitting in the priority mail boxes that they arrived in when they are not in the cab.

but anyway, I believe there is enough room to make a rack to hold all 5 nintendo classic boards (and maybe a vs board or two) right below the monitor and above the power supply. mount the pcb's on their side so that the edge connectors are pointed at the coin door. it should be possible to swap the harness through the coin door, if not an extension could be made for each board.
