Ok, so I have a Dedicated Make trax that I bought with the sound not working. Everything else works fine. Ive reseated everything and I still cant get the sound to work. There is no sound and Ive adjusted the sound pot and still nothing. I got a real good deal on another working game board that was pulled working. I just tried it and the sound doesnt work on that one either which leads me to believe its not the board. Any ideas? Im also using a new speaker.

Check to make sure that the wiring to the speaker is working correctly. You shouldbe able to set vour multimeter to the lowest OHM setting and at least be able to see if you get continuity through the speaker wires.

Then there is probably a break in one or both sides. If you can get to the speaker you should be able to see where the wires attach. Make sure that both wires are attached. If they are then check for continuity between the sound plug and the corresponding speaker connector. You may find it easirer to just run new speaker wires rather than mess with looking for the break in the wire.

The sound pots on both of my Make Trax boards are flaky, running them back and forth a few times will get it working well enough to play, but the pots really need to be changed.

Remember, those things are 30 years old, they are probably corroded and worn.

Not sure what the ohms are on them, but you should be able to look it up in the manual and check it with a multi-meter.
