It annoyes me that I have to pull the board out of my Galaga to adjust the volume. I could solder a pot on a wire, but I really don't want to change the board. Anyone else annoyed with this?

Your're annoyed and yet don't want to do the obvious fix for the problem?

I just don't want to alter the board. I was thinking I would bring the volume down to +1v level then run the output into an amp and have a volume control behind the coin door. It is crazy that you have to pull the board out to change the volume.

I am guessing you could mount a remote 1K POT and put microclips on the leads. Turn the existing PCB POT volume all the way down. Then clip one lead to the side of C18 going to the PCB POT wiper and the other lead to R51 going to the PCB POT base. It will probably add some non-linearity to the volume control, but should provide usable volume control without board modification.

DISCLAIMER: I have not tried this. My board does not have working sound at the moment so I have no way to verify. Always possible (however unlikely) that it will damage the sound hardware or do other bad things so try at your own risk!

dude just set the volume to it.
i set my galaga volume once and now i dont ave to touch it again.
this does in no way change the board.
its like setting the volume to your radio.

Sometimes I want it loud and sometimes I want it quiet. Also annoying that it does not demo in free play mode.
