Anyone ever attempted to make a roller style controller out of a trackball?
This Japanese site seems to have accomplished it.
I'm trying to think where one could source a cylinder that would be about those dimensions, which would also require a proper size rubber cylinder.

hmmmm.

roller source

When worked in a Lumber mill, we had good luck ordering rollers for the food service industry. We found both rubber-like and nylon coated or solid nylon. You would have to look around but our bearing supply place had tons of industry catalogs to browse through. Always interested in the Major Havoc roller...

thanks. didn't think about the old cardboard box roller assembly.
back in the 70's our grocery store used to have a roller system for running groceries outside. when that got taken out I knew where all that stuff got piled for scrap. dang. only 35 years later....

A Japanese friend read that page for me and it says the guy used pipe, apparently with rubber wheels inside. hmmmm.

I was thinking about getting one of those PC compatible optical boards from Bob Roberts so it will interface with mame.

Should be a decent format for Arkanoid on a 60-1?

good stuff. that is definitely on the right track of ideas. Have to check out the local shops that carry bearing related items. thank you.
