Is there an adjustment for speed on Major Havoc? I've played the game on a couple of dedicated machines and one felt faster to me than the other. Was this my brain playing tricks, or is there an adjustment?

I have heard that the boards that were shipped with the dedicated units had a higher clock speed than those for the conversions. This was done to accommodate the different refresh rates for the WG6100 vs. the Amplifone monitors (slower for the former).

If both units you played were dedicated, perhaps one had a board that was originally for a conversion unit.

Anyone else know more?

the crystals are different on the game. Dedicated is slightly faster something like 10mhz vs 9mhz than on the kit boards.

I am not sure, but thre may be another mod to ompesate for the roller vs the tempest spinner (Or maybe that was the purpose of the crystal change).

Dedicated boards used:

10MHz for Y1 and 12.096MHz for Y2

Note: I have seen some DEDICATED boards with 12.0MHz for Y2

Modified Conversion boards used:

8MHz for Y1 and 10MHz for Y2

Note: I have seen some conversions with 8.9MHz for Y1.

LOL I was typing this up, then I got a phone call. When I got back, I refreshed the screen and you answered it...
