Hey all,
I just acquired a Major Havok board and its going to be more of an easter egg hunt than a repair job. I count 16 empty IC sockets. I thought someone on here who has a Major Havoc could fill in the missing info. So here is the list and what I can gather from the parts manual I found online.

1H/J Static Ram 24pin
1J/K Static Ram
1L 27128 Eprom 200ns 28pin
1M/N 27128 Eprom 200ns
1N/P 27128 Eprom 200ns
1Q 27128 Eprom 200ns
6H 27128 Eprom 300ns
6J/K 27128 Eprom 300ns
6K/L 2764 Eprom
6L/M Static Ram
6M/N Static Ram
7E/F 27LS279 Integrated Circuit 40pin (CORRECTION: actually listed as a 74LS279)
9P/Q Static Ram
9Q/R 2804 Eprom
9S 27128 Eprom 300ns
13Q Custom Integrated Circuit 40pin

Also I need to know what is in VR-1 and VR-4. Should be a couple transistors
VR-1 is supposed to be 7815
And VR-4 may not be used.

So here's my questions.
1. What kind(s) of static Ram is used in these and what is the best substitute if its hard to get.
2. Is the custom IC at 13C available from anywhere. Thought someone may have reproduced a substitute or know of another game that also uses it.
3. How many chips Rom chips are used on this game. By my count, its 9.
4. Anyone know a cheap source for a rom set.

Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

That's what I was hoping for. I figured it had a quad pokey. And I even have a few of the 6116 rams laying around somewhere. Although, I will probably have to order a few more. Now who is Steph. Is that Hobby Roms or someone else. Thanks for the help guys.

What about the 7E/F 74LS279. I'm guessing its a processor. Atari part is:137179-001. Anyone have a more common name for this processor.

UPDATE: I actually found 74LS279 at my source for 6116 rams. But it is listed as:Quad Set-Reset Latch
16 Pin DIP Package

So I'm left wondering what 40 pin DIP chip/processor goes in that spot. Anyone know.

While I think the 74LS279 is a misprint, I found the atari number 137179-001 at electron forge. I think it is the Atari AVG chip. Again, luckily their is a replacement available.

I have a few boards. Want me to check anything out for you or take close up pics? I'm fairly new to looking at them. Do you have a conversion kit board or the dedicated board?

Sorry, this slipped my mind last weekend. Here are pics in 4 quadrants.

Major Havoc uses a quad-pokey (found on Firefox as well) or a Quad-pokey eliminator populated with 4 pokeys.

Thanks,
The pics are great. This project has just taken a back seat as of late. Been worried trying to get pins running and right. And I've been waiting for A.Yeckley to email me back to ask him if I should send him the board as is or purchase the roms from hobby roms, the ram from twisted wrist, and and the quad pokey and AVG from him. And to see if its better to try to complete the board before I send it to him and if so to to see if I should install the parts or just include it in the box so he can do it later. I may have some sockets that are questionable. I have not doubt that it can be put together, but dropping 200 or so bucks in parts and labor right now would be better spent elsewhere. Maybe in 6 months or so. When I get my spare Space Duel cab off my friend, I will probably get hot about fixing this board to install it in it. Again, thanks for the pics. My game doesn't seem to be quite as empty as I thought it is. Although it is still missing 16 chips.

Yeah, there are some blank spots normally. :)

Edit: Glad to help, by the way. I love me some Havoc and will hopefully build a dedicated repro cab (or 2 or 3 or 4 :D ) up once Spyridon is up and running with his CNC cab operation. :)

Before you buy an AVG replacement, make sure it is correct. WYSIWYG has a thread in the for sale section with a link to his web site where he explains the issues with the different replacements.
