I just picked up a major havoc at CAX, the guy said it was 100% working, and I am 100% sure that this is true.

Anyway, I am not here to debate that part, and do not want it debated, lol. Let's assume it was 100% working.

Anyway, I got it home put the boards in, and it doesn't work properly.
There is no sound, the game is set on free play, yet when I push the 1 or 2 player button the game doesn't start, though when I turn the spinner I think it starts a 1 player game.
At that point I have no control over the guy, and when I hit the shield button, the game resets, and goes back to starting a new game.
Every time on the reset with the shield button.

Anyway, my +5 is at 4.76 on the test points of the board. Is this automatically the first thing to get working on?
How do you adjust the +5 on these arii's ?
I checked some voltages on the power board -22 is -22.

You need to get the +5 up to 5 volts minimum on the board, preferably a little over. There is a pot on the ARII that you can use to adjust the +5vdc. If it will not adjust Bob has a rebuild kit.

I keep a couple of the rebuild kits around, I have those. :)

Ok I will look for the +5 adjustment. I assume it's probably the same for all arii's, I have a few extra I can look at.
thanks bud.

well I pulled the power board, reflowed some solder just for the kick of it.

put her back in, got the +5 up to about 5.12, no luck.

same thing.
turning the spinner effectively is player 1 start, the game comes up and your guy is firing the whole time, and you cannot control the ship.
hitting shield resets the game and starts it over.

love some insight.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

I did a little reading, found a conversion manual, and figured out that the bottom edge connector needed to be reversed from it's normal position. Effectively turned upside down. Fortunately the way I had it connected does no damage, it just performs like shit, lol.

Anyway, a quick rotate of the bottom edge connector and I am good.

thanks

Well, as we learned from mclassic, 100% working means "board powers up". Anything more than that is just gravy..

All jokes aside, I'm pretty sure the board has issues. I'd follow up with the person who sold it to you.

EDIT: AWESOME. I love the following two things:

1: easy fixes
2: honest sellers

Looks like you found both. :)
