I got a magic sword Pcb the other day. It's a little off. My guy isn't centered on screen he's to far right and everything I'm supposed to land on is the same. To far to the right. It will show the ledge perfect but my guy will walk off everything to the right for a little bit before he should fall off. Same with jumping on them. I haven't reset chips yet but wonder if anyone knew if it was specific ones or what not. Any Input is appreciated.

If you've got another cps board like a street fighter II or something, you can try swapping the bottom board in the stack and see if that makes it go away. Then you'll narrow down if it's on that main board or not, I'll bet it is.

channelmanic, Thank You!

I have been searching for those for some time (I've got probably 4 bad "A" boards and have just picked up anoter 4 or 5 to troubleshoot).

It had never occured to me to just review some of the individual game's schematics.... not that there are many of those either.. :p

Thanks again.

Brian.

Impossible?

Say it isn't so!

While it says "Forgotten Worlds", it's just the A board schematic only.

Who's yer daddy? :D

Very nice, thanks! Any chance there is a detailed description about the CPS1 and the custom ICs anywhere? Has anyone worked out what is really possible in the video IC for example? I have seen descriptions of things like "256 sprites", but are there limits such as the number of sprites that can be processed in a single scan line? Details like that.

StreetzKing: Without having worked on the CPS1 before, and due to the number of custom ICs, it would be tricky to nail down the problem to a particular part. However, the main video chip PPU1 seems to affect a lot of things, and apparently is also responsible for the tile layers which seems related to your problem. Can you determine exactly how far off things appear to be? Like 8 or 16 pixels, or something like that?

ok so cleaned all the chips and reset them, nothing changed. The problem is the only thing thats off are the ledges. Nothing else. the doors and chests you open are normal, and my character is off to the right of the screen a little. so basically my character and ledges are off. thats it. any help?

As I am a programmer by profession it sounds like a bad ram chip, some address is being read wrong.

If you have a logic probe and know how to use it you could probably figure it out.

Like what was mentioned above, swapping in a known good a board would eliminate that, i believe the ram is on the a board.

swapping the a board solved the problem, i plugged the bad a board onto my spare sf2 and the title screen was to the right, the map and character select was fine in terms of centering but the cursor went off the screen to the right to select some characters. The stage of the fight was also way off to the right. So does anyone know which chip would cause the majority of shit to be off to the right?

Or ill buy another a board if someone has one
