Thanks!

Joust 2 is the sequel to Joust, same hardware as Mystic Marathon. Estimated production run between 800-1000. Features a vertical monitor, a "transform" button to turn the Ostrich into a Pegasus, and speech synthesis. Generally regarded as being harder than Joust, and handicapped due to the lack of horizontal space to fly in. This game came to me from a comic book shop owner/friend who wanted it gone, it no longer worked. I didn't know how to do board-level work at that time, so a co-worker who also collected helped me repair the game and taught me the skills I needed to work on games myself in the future.

Joust pin is awesome! Only 402 made, they pop up on eBay every so often. #1 cool feature is head-to-head play, each player getting a ball. You can pass the balls across the middle so you may have two balls in play on your side while your opponent twiddles his thumbs and curses your name. Once both players run out of balls, the game starts a 30-second multiball mode, in which the game's 4 balls are all shot out and keep coming back out after draining, for 30 seconds. The #1 suck feature is also the head-to-head play, if in single-player mode. Player 1 controls both sets of flippers in that mode, and while it adds some gameplay challenge (try maxxing egg bonus for your side AND the other side when you cannot see the other side's drop targets!!), it's not nearly as much fun as going head-to-head.
