My coin door had mis-matched inserts that were in rough shape. I decided to see what home brew ones would look like. I used 1/8" clear plexi, with black and translucent red vinyl stuck to it from the backside. Came out looking good. They are quite bright, which I like, but they could be dulled down with a layer of white translucent vinyl.
Looks like my coin door could use a paintjob!

damn dude your getting good at this stuff right off the bat...

i dont know of many other people who can make thier own cpos and stuff like this...

Those look great. So did you cut the black vinyl and stick the red numbers over the cut-outs? Where did you find red vinyl numbers?

I don't know about everyone else, but I'd be interested in you making some cheap-bastard tutorials on how you do this stuff.

.

I work in a sign shop, so it's easy! I used 1/8" clear plexi, cut the black vinyl with the 25 reversed and stuck it to the back of the plexi. Behind the black vinyl I stuck translucent red vinyl. That's pretty much it...about .15 worth of material total!

So exactly how did you cut "25" into the vinyl and it look so great?

Nice work. Could get your source for translucent vinyl? I have been looking for some for a few back lit projects.

Hey, you should replace those coin slots with the original ones. I had the same issue of the plastic ones (and one missing). A guy on ebay sells them as NOS for ~$20. Includes both slots and both the chutes on the back. Extremely nice quality by the way.

Anyway, there's none posted now, but he seems to post up a new set every few weeks, just watch for em.

Are they shiny? Mine are metal, just not shiny.

The slot itself is plastic. It looks like cast metal, but not. Apparently there was an issue with midway cabs where folks would put a quarter to the slot and discharge static electricity to the machine causing problems. The fix was to replace the metal shiny slots with the plastic ones. Most folks prefer the nice rounded shiny ones as they are original issue. The chute behind them that guides the quarter / token into the slot is all the same, just wanted to eliminate any conduction from human to machine.

You can find the plastic ones on ebay, but the stamped chrome metal ones are better IMO.

I would like to have some custom inserts for my terminator it would be awesome if the coin door inserts said T2 when lit up.
