I made it to the Dragon for the first time in 30 years or so playing Dragon's Lair over the weekend. I didn't kill the bastard... but I got there...

Good for you! Pretty cool isn't it? You have a DL?

BITD when I had an audience I would put my coat or jacket over the monitor and kill him going by the sounds. People liked that shit. Didn't get laid as a result of it though.

I truly loved that game and swore that one day I'd have one. Had no idea how it would happen but knew I would one day. 15 years later, the dream came true. It was my 3rd game. DL2 was my 4th or 5th.

BITD me and a friend convinced the local arcade manager to let us hook up a VCR to the machine and record me playing. After playing through it and killing the dragon, I went back and died a few times to show the cool death scenes. Those were the days.

Hahahahahaha....
Getting there is half the fun.. Killing the dragon and saving pamela anderson at the end..
thats a tad better but eh.

My reflexes and memory have gotten soooo slow I can't
get halfway through the game anymore :(

The first time I beat the Dragon was around 1984 in
an arcade called Playhouse.

The first time I beat Borf was in 1985 in Wildwood, NJ
in an arcade which still exists but name I can't remember.

I have not played the game since it was first released. Gave up wasting quarters at the time. Would be neat to now own one I guess. :D

I always thought Space Ace was better.

I think part of the problem was that I could never get close to Dragon's Lair to play the game. There were too many people waiting in line to play it back then. By the time Space Ace came along there were fewer people going to the arcade, and less interest in this kind of game. I think it took me about a week to play all the way through Space Ace and then maybe another week to be able to play it all the way through on expert without losing a life.
