I am now up to the FORTRAN level for the first time in my life, with my high score of 39,693. I tried using the crazy "move the cone" theory, and it is seeming to work somehow. Don't ask me how.

Here's a good one that'll blow your mind the first time you try it on FORTRAN. When you get the light cycles, at the start, hold the joystick left, but don't hit the trigger and just let your cycle go left at slow speed.

i tried that yesterday and it's hard to tell if moving the cone works or not...

Not sure how high you guys are getting. I find it to be most useful
up in the high user levels when the cone is hauling ass.

I guess I need to start documenting scores anyway. Maybe i will buy a video camera of
some type.

My high is just barely over 1 million (I got nervous and choked...luckily after the rollover :D ) I think I was around level 65-70. (I keep track of levels in my mind so I know which way the cones are coming, and so I know to use my 9th light cycle pattern, which repeats every 5 levels afterwards)

I quit after the rollover. pissed me off.
had 2 lives left. but it was almost 2 in the morning, lol. so I didn't mind quitting.

Yeah every 5 is the trick starting at assembly on those light cycles.

they say after about 200 something levels the game gets very easy again.
haven't been there yet

Yeah, I think it's in the 240's...I believe it has something to do with the 8 bit rollover, but it's not exactly at 256. I've heard it just keeps playing the same level over and over again. You'd probably be close to 4 million at that point and about 6 hours in ;) I don't think it's one with a recognizer tank level either, so no breaks after that.

that's probably part of my issue as well. my high score is 24k.....

Here are some tips I've figured out in my amateur status.. Get as many spiders as you can until the time runs out, and learn to ricochet your bullets on the tank board- I think they go the length of wherever you are firing them, and they bounce off of the walls, so you can hit opposing tanks from around corners etc.

The cone is still my crutch. :(

Last night I eeked into a new high score on my TRON, 40,474. I'm really getting the handle on the tanks now. I also saw the ship sailer thing that TRON and Yori ride on at the end of the movie, but I couldn't move when it was on the screen so I didn't know what to do. It was on the spider board when they start as just the square blocks..

I am making progress though! Woot!

You get a split second to shoot the bugs before they come to life, so take advantage of that. The grid bugs are always the easiest to clear...it's those damn light cycle patterns that always confuse me!

That ship is dropping off a "bit" which is worth 5000 if you pick it up. It appears randomly starting on FORTRAN.

wait till you see the reconizers!!!

I know I'm dying to!! Tonight I passed 48! Woot!

I had to take one for the team and leaped on "Bit" and then died after I got him. But I still had 1 life left and knew that would get me another 5K further up the ladder. Sometimes the needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the few.. or the 1. :D

The recognizer level is great...only place in the game where you can take an unlimited break :)
