MK in a Dynamo cab. Nothing special, it had a busted tube, but I had a spare 19" laying about.
I didnt want this game to begin with , but I picked it up with the intent of making another trade. That trade fell through, damn, so now I am stuck with the MK.

Then I spotted a nice Q-Bert in the background of another game for sale post on the local Craigslist. I asked the seller about it, found out it was broken, and asked him for a price. His price was a bit high, (he had paid $800 when it worked) so I inquired about a possible trade for a working game. I offered up the MK or a Roadblasters. He said he had a friend who may be interested in the MK and thus the deal was born.

So here he is, lying dead in the back of my truck.

And again, 1 hour later in the shop, everthing working except for the knocker. Gotta check that transistor tonight...

So you never know when that JAMMA junk may come in handy. If it's cheap it may be worth picking up for trade bait at a later time. This has worked in my favor twice now. Cheap newer game in trade for classic.

That is a nice turn over! One thing I am confused on though, you said the guy you wanted to buy the Qbert from had a friend who wanted the MK. So did he trade you for the MK to give to his friend, or did he just give you a cheaper price on the Qbert?

Yeah it was weird, a 3 way :p

I am assuming that his friend bought the Q-Bert, and then traded me for the MK. I have no idea what the guy paid for Q-Bert. All I know is I drove up with the MK, and drove away with the Q-Bert, no $$ exchanged.

Oh yeah, I forgot to tell about the part where the switch on the MK decided to fail at the exact moment I was showing it to the guy. Luckilly Q-Bert guy had a multimeter and let me use it to track down the problem.

So what was wrong with QBert? I mean what did it take to get it working, a fuse? :p

I hate to say it, but yes. Not even a replacment of a fuse, just a wiggle.

That's why I dont look at or diagnose broken games if the price is right. If they tell me it worked one minute and not the next, I just load em' up.

The filter board does need some attention though, it has some charring and a melted connector. I had to give it a wiggle too. :D I will reflow and repair any spotty connections there.

That theory works great, until you get an outrun that "Worked fine, then just stopped working one day" that has a dead monitor, and a steering gear in 1 million pieces.

Nice score Jordan!!! I got my tron by paying attention to what was in the background of a CL picture. :D

Haha it's funny how we are like that. Did you see the local CL pic where the guy had a Tapper in the background? I noticed when he reposted his game, he made sure to say,"this is my ONLY game for sale, nothing else" :D
