Hey all,
I know the info is out there somewhere, but its late and I'm having trouble finding it. My question is what's your thoughts and opinions on the LV2000, LV2000 lite, and Spaeth's LV6100. I'm in need of one and I usually order from Arcadeshop. He's getting 40 for one, and I figured I might be able to get one of the other types cheaper. He sells the LV2000 and I have put in a couple in other machines. Where can I find the light version, and how much does Mark get out of the LV6100. I heard the LV2000 lite didn't need adjusted, but I also know that the Spaeth version used through hole components in case anything ever burned out. Anyone have a spare they're selling. Love to hear some thoughts as well as some sources for all three. And how does someone order from Spaeth. Thanks in advance guys.

I always order mine from here: http://www.vector-repair.com/

$27 for the lite version. It can't be adjusted...which to me I'd pay more for actually. I've used both are easy to install. I never plan to work on them. Never had one fail yet and I've had some for a loooong time.

Never used Spaeth's since he won't sell to me since he thinks I am not a nice person.

Is there any reason I would want or need to adjust the voltage up or down like for fine tuning. Any drawbacks to not being able to adjust?

the way I hear it, the adjustment feature is not ideal..
I have used 10 of spaeth's and prefer only to use his.

fwiw, i have the lite in the 6100 in my tempest, and it works well. had an original style lv2000 in my first tempest and that was ok too, just remember having to dial in the low voltage at first.

Any of the ones you buy will work just fine, although the only time you really need one is in a Tempest. The other games (Space Duel, Star Wars, Black Widow, Quantum, etc) don't stress the monitor the way Tempest does...

Really? I get much more "slow down" in Star Wars than Tempest... and I always thought that was a limitation of the monitor? No?

Maybe, but it's not stressing the low-voltage section the way Tempest does, and that's what the LV boards are designed to upgrade. It won't hurt to put them in, and I usually do just to be safe, but I know of a properly rebuilt Space Duel and a Star Wars with no LV boards that have run fine for years. Tempest won't last that long...

I have used Mark's and they work great. As far as ordering goes, I just drive over to Hudson. :) (probably not practical for most of us)

Was the LV section modified (improved) from the WG6100 to the WG6102? If not, then I'll disagree with your statement about Tempest since my Tempest Cabaret has a WG6102 and has been fine for years with no LV2000.
