Hello!
I have been a reader of the forums here since purchasing my first machine over three years ago. I now have five machines and questions come up often enough that I should start being more involved in the forum here.
First, the hardware:
Ladybug (rewired for JAMMA, multicade)
Stern Trident
Bally Mr and Mrs Pacman
Frogger cocktail
Millipede
When I was young there was an Aladdin's Castle within biking distance. I spent a lot of time there.
As an adult I've become a lover of pinball, and I've gained a new appreciation of arcade games from the past. Like Marshall McLuhan said "the medium is the message", and there is an experience to playing the games on a cabinet that is unique and palpable. I also have less and less time in life, and can no longer justify playing epic console games that require 30 hours of gameplay where at no moment in that process are there any stakes. I like that arcade games are short, until you get good, and when you die in a classic arcade game you are given no quarter. I have time for this, and enjoy the process of improving my performance.
I also used to play music, but now I just jam with my daughter and my wife. My daughter is about to be five and she named our band "Wizard Scissors" because that's an awesome name.
I have a degree in journalism, a minor in drama, and I also studied chemistry for a while. Taught myself programming after college and have been a web monkey/technologist since. For the most part I'm an autodidact but I did complete the Coursera JHU Data Science program recently.
I once showed Queen Latifah where the coffee maker was, somehow managed to get co-nominated for an Emmy and had the pleasure of seeing an album I played on mentioned in tiny print on the last page of a Rolling Stone. This is the closest I have come to greatness.
I believe triple-entendre technology is possible.
Grew up in South Carolina, so I apologize ahead of time for that. Currently live in downtown Atlanta, so I apologize ahead of time for that, too.
It's so nice to see all of you.
