I think my transformer is miswired. Can someone check me on this?
I've got the Violet/BK wire from the transformer brick going directly to J4a. By the schematics, it should be headed to Pin 5 of the voltage selection plug (J3). I haven't the foggiest WHY it's going to J4a.
There is currently nothing in J3 pin 5.
But I'm also finding there is nothing in Pin5 at the voltage selection plug.
I'm pretty sure I need to run a wire from J4a to the piggybacked Yellow/Bk (from Transformer) & J3 P4 (Blk) wires.
Am I right in this? I don't understand why this has been modified like this, or at least appears modified.

That'd be great. But I know how hard it would be to get a pick of all the wires at P5 without obstruction.

My J2, look fine in comparison with your pic.
My J3 however is very different from yours.
Im not sure at J5. Which is the hardest to tell because of so many wires feeding into it.

J5 wiring diagram as it is viewed from under the power transformer housing.

Ok, well I've gone over the schematics again for the power supply from a Lunar Lander. I appear to be missing two wires that lead to P/J5. A blue wire to Pin 10(80VAC XHI) and a Blue/white to Pin 14 (80VAC XLO).
I have neither of these wires coming from my transformer.
Can anyone else confirm their pin 10 and Pin14 is empty in their G05-801 equipped Atari power transformer?
Any pics would be helpful from under the PS.

I just found out that I have what I *think* is a LL power brick. If you end up being in need let me know and we can talk more on it. I will post a pic of it.

Well I've taken the pics, I've done the diagrams. It sounds like your not entirely 100% sure it's a LL ps and noone I guess has the time or want to look over my posted diagrams to be sure I don't blow up a g05-801 monitor chassis, which I presume would be the outcome of getting it wrong.

I printed up the page out of the LL manual and all of the parts match what's on mine. Do you want me to take pics of how mine is set up for you to compare with? I'm 99.99999999% sure, I can't get to 100 unless I had another one to match it up against, but I'm thatttttt sure.

You are also in OH which isn't far from MD, so I could drop this thing in a box and send it to you and you could give it a go yourself. Up to you... it's been sitting in my stash for about 2 years :)

See the problem I'm going to have with what your describing is that if there ARE subtle differences, like extra wires, or wire routings is that I'm not going to know that it's as it should be as it hasn't been tested and working in a Lunar Lander with a G05-801.
What you have may be an older Asteroids G05-802 equipped ps. Seems like alot of time, energy and money involved getting it moved around.
But I do appreciate your offer of help.

That's curious. I looked over the schematics for Lunar Lander and they didn't appear to match. There seemed to be an extra wire or two from the transformer brick.
Maybe I've forgotten something in this conversation, or just confusing the matter, but I think someone said that not all Lunar Landers had G05-801's in them? So I was trying to confirm that my diagram and the Lunar Lander Schmatic you refer to leads to a G05-801 and not an 802.
I've got to yank that asteroids PS out yet and compare the two. Still haven't done that.

Pretty sure the extra wires are the 80VAC (Disused) IE Centre tapped, so 3 wires . .

Sorry....yeah, the 80VAC lines in the schematics arn't used.

To my knowledge......Atari pinned the J5 connector on the transformer assembly differently depending on it's application. Basically, a color vector transformer assembly won't plug into a color raster harness. A black & white transformer assembly won't plug into a color vector harness.....and so on.

At this point I'd plug all the power up and see what happens.....now, at first, I'd leave the important shit unplugged (IE: motherboard edge connector, monitor power input connector). I'd take a few readings, if everything looked good........plug everything up, and re-check readings.

When Dokert finishes the main harness I'll be able to do that. Now that the heat wave hopefully is over I can maybe pick back up on Lunar Lander again.
My workshop is chalk full of projects and I need to expand my work area.
Had a weird dream about that last night. I had a choice of living in my current home or what was an old theater converted to an apartment. The thing was spooky huge. Very dark, had a huge black as night basement and I was terrified of just walking through the place. Ah, and Zak Bagans was one of the staff members as I was going to talk to the realtor about it. Like I said, weird dream. I'd wake up, go back to sleep and dammit I was back there again. I kept waking, then going back to that place. Like I was locked into that dream.
Don't have dreams like that very often. The type that at any moment you feel something's going to jump out and go 'BOO' the entire time. Like your being watched and the hairs on the back of your neck are standing on end. After falling asleep again I even decided to change things up a bit and fly from one side of a room to another. Wait a minute - I can't fly. After landing on my feet I shook my head and woke up. Dammit. Back to sleep. Hmm, back here again. Lets see if it works this time. I flew again. Shook my head and woke up - DAMMIT.
I rolled over onto my back about 4:48 and as I was looking at my window blind I noticed a light appear to go off, as if from a hallway to my side rumpas room as my bedroom door was open. I got up, looked around. Checked the light switch and how it appears in my blind from the other room. Layed back down, lit up a smoke, dog jumps up on bed and cuddles.
That's enough spaghetti before bed. Strange night.
