Ok, got a lunar lander having problems with on the picture, no picture. This is what I have done so far. I have changed the bottle cap resistors on the big heat sink, I did a cap kit, I also changed the 2 big tower caps, I changed the bridge rectifier, becasue it was blown originally when I got it. I re-flowed all header pins on all boards.I tried the brightness knob turning it, no help. I know the game board is good becasue its been tested and I can hear the game play.

The only thing I havent changed yet was big blue.

I do get the neck glow, and the spot killer is not on. I believe there's no chatter when on, I veified this by putting my hand on the screen with it on and I get no static feel on the screen anywhere when the game is on

>>Any help or ideas would be great

Thanks John

Update.....okay pulled the Hv board out, and found that Fuse 900 was blown. I checked the faq about Fuse 900, it said" check these.........
Opens: ZD900, ZD901, and Q901. Shorts: Q900, Q902, Q903, and ZD903

Is there a common part thats related to that fuse when it blows that fuse on the hv board?

I dont know what those are and how to test them.
Sorry...
John

Ok, as a sparky we look for clues

1. Blown rectifier
2. Blown fuse
3. Static on screen, so we have HV

Something caused the fuse to blow and rectifier to blow

I will have a look at the diagram and get back to you

Ok from here Page 10

That fuse is only 1 Amp FB (Fast Blow)

Use the diagram to measure the readings, some of the components will give incorrect readings unless you de-solder and remove 1 leg

The transistors are simple using the link previously shown

The capacitors - well I think you said you changed them all - is that right? :)

Any questions please ask

I fixed this for John. The deflection board was good. The regulator board had a bad resistor, a bad transistor on the heat sink, and what looked like cold solder joints on the HV cage. I re-soldered a ton of original solder joints. It works good now. I will be sending it back soon.

I was close, but just couldn't do it, a white towel came flying across the room and hit the floor....
so I made a call........

>>To let everyone know Dave does awesome work. He not only repaired this for me for my lunar lander, but last year he rebuilt and upgraded both my amp deflection, and my
amp hv board for my star wars cockpit that were both not working when I bought them.

Thanks again Dave, as always

Aaron, just need 2 more parts. I already got the overlay from phoenix, so I need the mission select pcb and of course the control panel.

tried to get it to work but not going, I will have to find another panel. I took it to work and tried to fill in the holes and it warped on me.

You already have a thruster and overlay. You might be better off getting another Asteroids panel and converting it. Make plugs the same size as the inside of the hole and just tack them in place instead of welding all the way around. You wont generate as much heat that way. Panel will not warp. Smoothe the top with Bondo and it will be the perfect crime. I will look to see if I have another panel.
