Was talking with Bradio a few days ago. Kicking around the Idea of building a Lunar Lander Cabaret.

Here is my Idea. I have a beat up Asteroids cabaret. Its going to take alot of work to get this cabinet restored. I would either restore it, or use it as a pattern to build another one. For now I would put my Muti Asteroids kit in it, until I have all the custom parts made. The control panel would be modified to take a regular thruster and the start, select, left and right buttons. They would be the same atati buttons used on a original lander.

There would not be enough room for the mission light panel on the control panel. I would cut a hole in the cabinet just below the control panel to mount the Mission light panel. A custom CPO would be made. The Marquee would be custom same size and shape as the original cabaret marquee so it would mount in original location.

I would get a shrunk down version of the lunar lander sideart that I just got. Not sure if I would have wood grain sides with even smaller cabaret sideart.
Im going to ask the guy that vectorized the art if he can size it down for me.

So it would run with the multi kit and original asteroids control panel, until I can get the custom parts made. Then it would be converted to a stand alone Lunar Lander with original boards.

Any thoughts???

Sounds like an awesome idea to me!

I was thinking of doing the same thing with my Asteroids cabaret, I'm "cloning" it because I had to take it apart to fit it in my car and figured I might as well use it as a template to build a minty one, besides the original is a little moldy. Though I wasn't going to build in a full size thruster if that's what you've got in mind, I was thinking more along the lines of something like a 3rd of the size with a single shaft.

Thoughts? First one that came to mind was I wonder how much a plane ticket is out to Washington so I can come see it when you're done. :)

Very cool idea for a project. :beerchug: And after you do that one... you may as well do a Red Baron cabaret too. (then I would have to seriously look into how much airfare is!!!)

Good luck!

Instead of the Mission lights below the marquee..I would go with making a box to mount on top of the cab. More usefull that way and it won't add much to the height of the cab. Definitely give it a unique look.

That, or put it in the bezel if you can fit it.

I like it!! The top isnt flat so it wont work on top, but just inside the top might work:cool:

Overall, this is a kick ass idea. Kick. Ass.

What about a Mappy style piece above the monitor? Just a couple inches high, no more than 6, and just deep enough to contain the wiring and bulbs.

I would also just copy the mission light graphics from the upright and keep the original feel to the game.

Yes looks like a mappy style box that mounts to the top might be the best route. I have a extra mission light board and graphics too.

Can do the reduction, but I would really have to pass it to gameon when reduced, out of fairness to him. He really has the rights to the art now.

Remember I made that "Art for file" swap deal

Happy to help of course
