Lunar Lander / Asteroids Volume Pot Value needed

just in case anyone goes looking for this info, i just used a 50 ohm 5 watt wire-wound pot as a replacement in my Asteroids and it worked great. i picked it up at a local electronics place for $2.95 out of a "any pot in this bin" bucket but i did see them listed online for about $8.

i know the original is 50 ohm but doesn't list a wattage.

does Radio Shack carry anything anymore? :)

Bob has a 100 ohm pot that might work as a replacement but i haven't tried it.

your telling me, yea they carry stuff....toys now...LOL....they used to carry alot of electrical stuff, I remember getting long time ago my 6x9 jenson speakers, and even my car radio. Good luck now, on anything, just toys and cell phones

Asteroids has 2 TDA 2002 audio amps which are 8 watts so that should make it a 16 watt output so if I had to guess the pot should be a 25 watt wire wound pot. Don't know if the value is on the pot, I'll try and take a look at mine but here is one place I found that sells the pots. They have a 50 ohm 25 watt listed.

Here's whats on the side of the pot as I was emailed this info to me from another member

The Model is E50Ω 0.5A 7806

the original volume pot says .5 A.

If thats the case then it looks like it's a 12.5 Watt at 50 ohms.
50 Ohm, 12.5 Watt
Angstrohm Precision (now part of Vishay) Type 50AG15B, Panel Mounted 12.5W Rheostat, Panel mounted, 1/8 in. standard shaft. great for adjustable loads and current limiters, very nice quality. 50 Ohms, 0.5A max. current.
