In the lot of machines i picked up sits an Asteroids game in a lunar lander cabinet that has sideart good enough to scan. The cabinet itself is crap and will be crushed and tossed but this will be a great donor for a project that's been asked for many times over the years. I have absolutely no interest in this game or art project but i'm willing to help with it if someone wants to absorb the initial cost of getting this project started.

I can take the cabinet apart and have the entire side panel scanned in one shot on a very large high quality flatbed scanner. From there, the scan would be put on a disk and i could cut the side panel down to a size that could be shipped to whoever wants to finish off the project. This is about as far as i want to go with it and somebody (or multiple people) would have to pay me for the scanning an and shipping charges.

I also have access to a cpo that's never been installed which i could also have scanned but i would have to give it back to the original owner. This portion of the project may cost a solid $200 and somebody will have to still do all the vectorizing/clean-up/printing which i want nothing to do with.

If there's enough of you that are interested, send me a pm and i'll let you know what your contribution will be. I'm not gonna kill myself bumping this thread as it will be much easier for me to just crush the cabinet so if you wanna see something happen, it's all on you.

Good to see that Archer is back in the saddle, he did a great job on the cpo's the first time so no need to step on his toes i guess. BTW guys, once this cabinet enters my garage, it will be stripped and the cab will be crushed and gone within a few hours. Looking at it's current placement in the warehouse tells me you've got about two weeks to decide. I'm gonna be capping off another dumpster and this cabinet will be found there.

Chris, I am willing to donate some cash to this cause: 25.00 - 50.00 out of my own pocket, even though I don't even own a LL.

Hi Chris
Thanks for offering this generous proposal.

I would be willing to chip in up to 1/2 of the costs.

Is it possible to get the file on disk? Or maybe even a download link to the file, as it would probably be HUGE?

Look forward to the progress

Why all the I'll do this and I'll do that if you pay me this or that for this portion etc or it goes in a dumpster?

Why not just offer to be paid to remove both sides and ship them flat to someone who gives a ****? You're coming across like a guy wanting a ransom or you'll throw the baby over the balcony.

I will prob join in on this, with $$$ but I have no clue on how or who would do the vector work:cool:

Read it however you want wunderarcade, it's still a very simple concept here. I'm offering to have the cabinet scanned for an artwork project that i have no interest in. I'm willing to do do some of the work but i'm looking to be reimbursed for what it actually costs. If this was a project that i was restoring, i'd spare no expense to get it done but since it's not, my effort is only gonna go so far. For once i'm actually offering something before i just toss it in the trash and you're still giving me ****. How about if i just destroy it, post pictures and then tell you what you could have had? Perhaps i could give it to a mame freak who could care less and just wants to paint the cabinet black.

I mentioned earlier that i wasn't gonna kill myself to get this project started for you guys so keep it up Wunder, it's people like you that make the decision real easy for me. Anybody else wanna play keyboard commando from the comfort of their home?

I'm your huckleberry...
Seriously, this is one of your more entertaining threads. And in this last post, you forgot to mention how fast it would be crushed and thrown in the dumpster . I must say, i was a little disappointed...

I'll spare this one for a little while Dave, it's buried several rows deep and i'm not that ambitious. I have to time this one and a few others with my framing crews machinery, i've grown tired of swinging a sledgehammer so i'll wait till i can fill his liftbasket full and he can drop them all to the ground at once from 40 feet in the air. From there they get scraped off the ground and loaded into the green monster.

Don't listen to the whiners and naysayers, Chris - it's a worthy project.

Like I said, I will definitely kick in dough to support the job and get it done.

If people don't like how you do things, so what?

That's why they invented Preparation H.

I agree with Russ

Worthy project, A piece of history for all future LL Owners

But 1 whole scaled print will be a far better starting point than a enlarged photo anyway

who will do the vectorizing is who-ever wants to, or needs to.

I will do it as I am looking for this artwork and have bumped every thread remotely talking about the subject.

I hope this all works out, and I am not feeling held to ransom at all

Well you should thank me, as he has now backed off from the threats of trashing the cab if his PP account doesn't get fatter in 5 minutes. Helping people out and doing something to contribute is quite honorable, but usually doesn't entail an "or else" threat.

The thread would of actually been more pleasant without your input
Why so negative?

Just hang tight for a bit guys, there's enough of you that want it done so the initial cost will be reasonable. In the meantime, you'll have to figure out who gets the copy of the disk and the panel. Some of you may just want a copy of the disk only and others maybe want to see it sent to a screenprinter. Pool some ideas for now and i'll post again when i dig the machine out, it's still several rows deep.

BTW Wunderboy, this never had anything to do with my paypal account getting fatter and i'm pretty sure that reimbursement for the actual cost plus a few bucks for the hundred miles worth of driving isn't out of line. If you have no interest in this project, do the rest of the guys a favor and keep your fingers off the keyboard.
