Many of you have heard of Luna City or had the privilege to visit it during one of Peter's Open House Game Days in years past. And while it may be old news as to the fate of Luna City, some of you may not know that Peter was able to keep a certain number of his games.

This weekend, the MAGFest crew assembled to help Peter close out that chapter of his life and begin the next one.

This picture says it all (That's Peter on the trailer):

I took the time to document the day as best I could:

Just thought I'd share this with my fellow KLOVers.

Looks like the same sense of gloom as shutting down a regular arcade.
Nobody is necessarily happy to see it all go. When life throws you a
curve, your arcade games suddenly can become boat anchors. I once
sold thirty games in a single shot not because I wanted to, but had to.
It blows.

Damn that still stings. I just today watched the interview he did with digital whatever a while back. The place was awesome. To see it coming apart and finally ending really sucks. All the best Peter.

Those pics are kind of tough to look at for me. I remember not long after figuring out you could have an arcade game at home and getting a couple of them in the house that I found his early website where he had the games in his house.

It gave me an idea of a goal I wanted to achieve, to recreate an arcade that somewhat looked like a photo from the early 80's.

I kept looking in on the site and watching him build things up, and then see the dream eventually unravel, ending with the pics you took a few days ago.

Hopefully he will find a place for them and can enjoy them again one day. I had actually heard that he had gotten rid of all of them, so it is good to see that he kept what looks like several nice ones.

Many were indeed sold, but he kept about 25 of them. Now here is something cool for those of you that may not have heard... The games he kept will now be making an annual appearance as part of the MAGFest classic arcade room. Peter's games will be in their own special 'Luna City' area.

So for those of you that never got to see the previous Luna City, some of it will live on!

For those of you who would like to visit Luna City as it once was, and have the 3dArcade MAME frontend installed, there's a virtual version of it available for download. Here's a couple of pics, and a link to the site.

Thanks for sharing those pics, Auric, and thanks to the Magfest crew for helping to preserve a little arcade history. I'm going to finally make it to Magfest next time come hell or high water! I saw y'all at Lloyd's on Monday (I was the one who asked if you had scored a crazy climber). Sorry I didn't hang around too long, but I was in a hurry to pick up my game and head home.

that really is a life work of one man teared apart.....
Im glad you got to keep some of the games, and i hope you have the drive to start something new..... all the best Peter!

I first caught wind of his story the moment things started to spiral downward. I wish I could have witnessed his arcade in it's glory days. It's heartbreaking to see these pics now. :(

What games was he able to keep?

i don't know the total list as some games are yet to be determined.

me and auric will get together and publish the list in time after it is all finalized.

but i know for a fact that he kept his:

EDOT
star wars cockpit
asteroids delux
battle zone.
DK
centar pin
super mario pin

and a bunch of others.
so wait till me and auric find out the fate of the rest.
plus i will list them when i start the offical thread for MAGfest 2013.

Peace
Buffett
