So after working on my Dragon's Lair tonight I reflected at how many hours/quarters I had placed into a machine such as this. I had a overwhelming sense of awe that I actually own a DL!

My god, had you told me when I was 14 I'd have one in my house, I would have died.

So I guess, what machine in your collection gives you that sense of wonder/awe that you can step up to and play, because you finally own it!

Pick one..

Mines Dragon's Lair.. my lord, I am glad to be a big, big kid. Even at 39. Screw growing up.

Mine is also a Dragon's Lair/Space Ace combo. Finally found one last year that a guy had restored 100% and installed the disc with the deleted scenes and added the board to play Space Ace. I probably paid too much but he let me make payments. I just like to look at the cabinet and like you I never thought I could actually own one.

First game I ever got (free!) and the one everyone who visits is excited to see in person:

Every game I've ever owned I have gotten that feeling.I just stand there admiring it and it makes me think back of when and where I first played that particular game.Ah the nostalgia!

I'm in awe of every game I own. Simply the fact that I now own something that as a kid I thought was awesome and unattainable. I sometimes just stand and look at them with a big grin on my face.

For me it was Pole Position. Back in the day it was usually 50 cents a play and whenever I got to play it was usually on the way somewhere so I didn't get much time with it. Now that I have one I can just play it...whenever.

Ditto. When I was a kid I would have thought owning an actual arcade game would have been about as likely as owning a 747, now that I own 5 and an actual slot machine I can't help but feel warm and fuzzy about it!

If I ever get rich I'm going to do like Jay Leno has done with his personal warehouse full of classic cars, except mine will be the world's biggest arcade museum/preservation society.

TRON.

Loved the game and the movie as a kid. Back then I thought... "it probably cost $1000 to get one of those...I'm never getting one...:( " I also lived overseas, so I thought the chances of getting one were even less if you were in a country other than the US.

Well, it doesn't cost that much these days... can't believe I have one in my house finally.

Mine is the first machine I bought. A 4player TMNT! Spent so many allowences on that game at the skating rink. I thought they were unatainable for the longest time. Maybe even having to be in a certian club to even own on. Some how I joined the club and got one. LOL Thats right -- Screw growing up --

every game I own, because I wasnt really born in the golden era so its funny to see peoples reactions when they come over, its either:

A. holy shit you got one of these.
or
B. Man I was playing this when you were like 3 years old

It was Pac-man for me.. I though the concept of owning a arcade game was impossible.
It was so cool.. now days its cool coming across a game you never heard of before in your life!

Super Pac-Man cocktail for me. The upright version was my absolute favorite when I was 6 or 7. I still get that tingly feeling when playing my Pac or Ms. Pac sometimes, though.

thanks for starting this thread. i am guilty of having more than one of these "lucky to own games" that's why in my arcade i created a "grail wall" each one holds great memories and each one would never be parted with!!!

It would have to be the first MAME cab I built...

The reason is that if the ColecoVision playing kid that I was in the 80's could see that I would eventually play ALL of the actual games that were haphazardly ported over to the Coleco on an actual stand-up cabinet, I would have been my own hero.

Second place is kind of weird, but its my Golden Tee Fore! The reason I still think its awesome is because I have one at home, yet still see one in nearly every bar I go to.
