Whoa! 200 is pretty amazing. I don't think I'll be able to match that...let alone beat it.

I don't see how it's possible to NOT jump at least 2 barrels. So unless you get one of those jumps that doesn't count...then 200 is about as good as it gets.

Someone needs to get 100 or even Zero and record a video of it. Let me have this! :)
 
i've seen at least a couple threads here over the years with people asking that question, but approaching it from the opposite standpoint of "wtf where are my points"

you can pull off jumps with no points, but there's a sweetspot so-to-speak you have to stay in when jumping for it NOT to register

I'm sure someone with a hell of a lot more knowledge than i regarding it can chime in

this leads me to believe a LEGIT (sorry, Billy) zero points run can be achieved

And now I see how you get a zero point jump. Interesting. I guess I never noticed but it looks like you get zero points when you jump a barrel early...just barley clearing it on the backside?

If I remember right, it has to do with the joystick direction and the location of Mario over the barrel. In other words, I believe the chance of points not registering goes up if your jump starts or ends very close to the barrel and there is not directional input on the joystick. This may or may not be tied in to how, when you're point pressing, you can jump near DK's foot and press the joystick to pick up points, even though you aren't jumping over anything.

Yes, from what I'm reading elsewhere, this is exactly how you perform a "zero-point" jump. So clearly a zero-point run is possible.

Does anyone have a video of someone doing a zero point run?

It's possible to do it with zero jumps, but it takes quite a while to wait for the barrel pattern, all while using ladders to avoid the barrels.

The guy mentioned in the other posts did it with a crap load of "zero point" jumps.

Cool! Thanks for posting. That's a pretty awesome run. Amazing to see it in video.

I really want to try and do this myself now...but I scarred I'll go mad trying. :)

EDIT: Maybe I'll go for zero points in DK Jr first...that seems much easier. ;) LOL

Yeah I forgot you can get 0 points for jumps since I've programmed my brain for so long to make sure to get those points.

Maybe we need a further qualifier to say how few points can one get without jumping?
