Finally after years of searching I have a nice Blackwidow.. I picked up a Gravitar that actually came out of the factory as a Blackwidow.. It still had the Blackwidow harness in it.. The Blackwidow sideart was removed at some point and the Gravitar sideart that was under it is near mint.. Im thinking I will prob leave it with the Gravitar Sideart, since it came from the factory with the BW art over the factory Gravitar art..

I purchased a Blackwidow CP and Marquee.. The CPO was not great, but the Marquee was mint.. I purchased a Blackwidow boardet that puked after 24 hours LOL, but that didnt keep me down.. I did a rom swap with my Gravitar PCB, and I was back in business. Im sending the BW pcb off for repairs..

Anyway I have been playing the hell out of the Blackwidow all week.. I love the machine.. Yesterday I got my new CPO from Atari Scott.. I could not wait, but all other projects on hold and installed the CPO...

Here are some pics of the Gravitar going back to a Factory Widow..

Congrats, the cp looks great and BW is an awesome vector game. hopefully one day I'll find one, I still have faith.

What are you missing??

Well, a cabinet actually! I have a very rough factory Black Widow/Gravitar cabinet that I plan to use as a template for a scratch build new cabinet. I have a Gravitar PCB, but not a BW, so I'll be looking for a board one day.

I have the harness, AR2, brick, control panel, repro 4" shafts, NOS Wico bases, and a marquee so other than cabinet and board I'm set.

Since I doubt I'll find a minty cabinet, already have these parts, and looks like sideart will happen one day, a new cabinet build makes sense. Just wish I had more time.

If you don't see any residue or discoloration on the side art(white edges darker where they are not covered by the sticker), then it probably never had BW side art applied. Atari also sold it as a field kit.. I would suspect all the ones on the line at atari got the full kit installed. The ones done by ops or distributors probably did not do the sides..

still, nice pickup. black widow deserves its own cabinet. Its way better than gravitar..

Yes there is slight residue and discouloration on the outer edges of the sideart.. I actually got the machine from a Klover, he said when he got it, that it still had widow art on the right side.. He removed it because it was his gravitar machine..

I think that having the Blackwidow art on it for all these years is what saved the Gravitar art.. Its near perfect.. Here are some pics of the right side and the residue line...
