As many of you know I have been trying to secure a nice reasonably priced JP in an ever inflating pin market. I haven't had much luck in finding a decent JP, but I did end up locating a nice fully working LWJP for $1100. I'd have to have it shipped, so the price would end up being closer to $1500 when all was said and done. Is it worth grabbing, or does it pale in comparison to JP so much that I'd regret the purchase? I love the backglass, love the shaker motor and am a fan of the theme from both movies. I have heard it is harder than JP to master. While usually a challenging pin is a good thing, some say the pin is TOO hard which makes it unfun, not more challenging. Just trying to get some insight from folks who have owned or played both. Thanks!

Phet, I think that as long as it has Dinosaurs you will be happy. :D I can't answer your question, but I am interested in seeing what you decide. Subscribed to this thread.

I've only briefly played The Lost World, and it had some mechanical issues- so take my opinion with that in mind. JP is the better game. Hold out for that one. You'll be glad you did.

Have you posted a wanted ad/thread on PinSide? That's a very active pin community. I'd be willing to bet you'd find one close to you fairly quickly. A lot of collectors are selling off some of their 90's B/W and DE pins in order to grab newer games like X-Men and AC/DC.

I have no idea what pinside is sir. I have only been scanning CL, Ebay and the Mr. Pinball classifieds.

Go to Pinside.com and sign up. Very active, helpful, and informative message board. And you'll find yourself reading about every single pin ever created as well.

You'll be glad you did. And you would most likely find a JP local.

Just signed up. Put it on my wishlist. What else should I be doing?

Yeah I would agree - Pinside is probably the place for pinball collectors right now. I think that is where a lot of the pinball regulars that used to be here have gone to.

Just don't expect Craigslist type deals to pop up there very often. People know what their games are worth there.

Cool. You'll be spending a lot of time on that site.

Just like here, I would slowly start posting on threads and then make a WTB post with your wishlist. The guys there have a lot of knowledge about everything pinball including current prices and the crazy inflation that's occuring.

I love their top 100 pin lists as well.

I owned a JPLW, and I liked it. I only have a few games on JP, but I liked Lost World better. I paid $1100 for mine as well. That being said, I wouldn't pay $1500 for one. You can get a better pin for that.

Phet, there is a guy local here that has a fully working JPLW for $1,500. You could probably get it a little cheaper than that and you can see it before buying. He's a real nice guy. Let me know if you are interested and I can put you two in contact.

BTW...JPLW is a pretty hard game. Modes are difficult to complete. Fun though and has a neat ball lock.

Sounds awesome. If the postmaster doesn't sell me his Jp, I'd be in $1350.

Well I messaged him thru pinside 2 days ago and he hasn't messaged me back. Did he sell it at S&S last night? Also, the Postmaster up in Duluth may be selling me his JP anyway. The gear on the Trex L-R is broken, but otherwise it is in player's condition. I sent Gary a message offering him $1500 for his. All I got back 2 days later was:

No the price is $1800.

your better of with the JP Phet anyway, watching it from youtube JP looks to be funner to play. and the playfield can be dolled up to be pretty cool.

I picked up my JP over the weekend, so this thread is now moot. I got my JP cheaper than the Lost World that was for sale locally. The JP needs a little work, but I think I got a great deal.

Thanks for the suggestion Dave, I was able to work a deal with a fairly local pinsider. To think, I never even heard of that forum until last week.

When are you going to admit you're a pin guy now?

I will after I go over the 50/50 ratio. Currently I am still at 35 vids, 3 pins. I HAVE been meaning to dump 10 more vids for a while. Now I have a good reason to. Pins are bigger! Since I bought my first pin in December, I have sold or traded:

My first and second pins
Popeye
DK3
Dig Dug Cabaret
Multi-Trackball cab
Tempest (soon)
Rampage (soon)
Super Hang-on (in 2 weeks)

Next on the block:

GORF
Space Wars
Moon Patrol
Multi-Williams
DKjr
Pig-Out
Ghosts N Goblins mini
