Hi Everyone,

I picked up a Lost World Jurassic Park today and the guns do not track very well.. Sometimes they won't even go to one side of the screen.. I have done the calibration over and over and it still does not work...

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Chris

I'm assuming that you have the Sega version and not the newer Konami game. The Sega guns work differently than most setups.

Do they ever seem to work right? Does one or both gun not go to the side of the screen? If it is both guns, is it the same side of the screen?

It could be a bad IR sensor board(s) that mount along the monitor.

This is the first place to start. Check them with a cell phone camera. They should all light up pretty nicely on the cell phone. If some of them are dark or dead those boards need to be replaced. Next thing to look at is the guns. If the cables are kinked or the lens are scratched to hell then they need to be replaced. If the gun boards dont have that piece of copper soldered to them on one side they need to be replaced too.

Check back after you have looked at these items. Theres a few more things you can do.

Thanks for all of the advice.. I will check these things out tonight and respond back..

Had a chance to take a pic of sensors.. Looks like they are OK... I will check the guns later tonight......

Maybe I am calibrating the guns wrong... Has anyone here done this?

Thanks,

Chris

Thanks

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the help on this issue..

I took the front glass off and cleaned the inside mirror, monitor and sensors off and everything works perfect now, tons of dust on everything...... Very fun game.... However I have now decided to focus on finding and restoring classic games I played when I was a kid.. This is such an addicting hobby....

I am going to post this game and others for sale in the correct section...

Thanks,

I have this same problem with my Lost World machine. Today I took off the glass and cleaned everything hoping that it would work but no luck. The 1 player gun seems to track very erratically and only will track on the left half of the screen when doing the gun test and once it gets to the middle it will start going back to the left even though I'm still moving the gun to the right. The 2 player gun is worse because it does the same thing as the 1 player except when I move the gun left, it will move the cursor right. Anyone have any ideas of what this might be? I am hoping that it is an inexpensive fix because I know that the gun parts for this games is pretty expensive.

Make sure you are calibrating the guns properly. There is a calibration function in test mode. Don't worry about where the cursor is located on the screen when you start calibration, just aim in the direction you are calibrating. At the end of calibration the cursor should be pretty steady when you calibrate the center.

However, your problem sounds like the hoses. Hoses for this game are notorious for shorting out at the gun handle. Happ sells replacements for around $120 shipped each. Also, check to see if your game has the little board between the gun hoses and the gun board. If not, get one, because this game is notorious for shorts in the hoses shorting out the gun board and the gun board is relatively expensive to replace.

You can also call Ken Westerfield:

He's very knowledgable and should be able to tell you what's wrong.
