Hey guys, been working on getting a Jurassic Park Lost World dx cab back up and running. Everything was going great the other day, had it fired up for a couple hours, but upon starting it up today, it fired up just fine, started the beginning of the attract mode, then the screen went black and I started hearing a chirping from inside the monitor, then smelled something burning. I quickly flipped the power off, and got inside the monitor, but I cant see anything immediately wrong. Anyone have a similar problem to this? Also, out of curiosity, what is needed to swap this game to an lcd? I hooked the vga cable up to an lcd that I use in my bedroom, but got no picture. Besides the vga, the only other cable going to the mitsu is a three wired molex which I assumed was the power to the monitor.

I wonder if a regular tv dude can work on these type of monitors, they dont have standard power cords, and without the 980 pound game wired to it, there is no power....

I personally doubt you'd find a TV repair guy that'd be much help on that monitor. Could you trace the burning smell? Everything is sorta similar between these and regular monitors... chirping probably means it's in shutdown... I'd check the HOT, and inspect the flyback.

To make it work w/ an LCD, you could use something like this: http://www.jammaboards.com/store/cga/ega/yuv-to-vga-converter-pcb-gbs-8220/prod_291.html . It'll convert CGA/EGA to VGA, which should work w/ your LCD.

Take a picture of the chassis showing all the boards.
Odds are the convergence Ics and some resistors have failed,a very common problem
with rear projections, need to inspect them!
Plug it in and look over by the convergence ICs..see any smoke?
Or take monitor to a local tv shop along with the game.
So they have a signal to test it with.
Along with service manual if you have it,i'm sure they can read a schematic!!
Good Luck!

I thought about that, but this game comes in three pieces and is right around a thousand pounds together, so moving it as a whole is quite an undertaking. I'll snap some pics of the boards and put em up here soon though. I def smelt smoke when it first happened.

Best of luck. Most repair shop people are too scared to touch these.

there are some options, let me see if i can find the thread..
