Robotron came on today with a RAM error 31- corrected an issue with the power supply.
All the settings retained, but the high score table somehow blanked out...

Alas, I am merely lamenting the loss of my high scores that I slaughtered so many Robotron to achieve. So many memories: The hours of thrilling game play. The sore shoulders requiring applications of Ben-Gay from my wife. The cries of hungry children begging me to stop...
okay, the last one is an exaggeration, but you get the idea.

sigh.

Dumb me plugged in my Robotron into the same outlet strip as my space heater; didn't get the voltage it usually does and, though it played, wiped my high scores. Argh!

That sux! So what was your high score?? I lose mine periodically but my best is around 1.2M on level 5 or 6. Not world class by a long shot but enough to make me proud. Glad I'm not the only one whose shoulders get sore.

Have you guys considered doing the SRAM-to-NVRAM mod on your boards? My understanding is that it'll make it much less likely to lose your high scores due to glitches or power problems.

In the last 2 years, I have really learned to accept in life that nothing is going to last forever. I have adjusted my emotional feelings because when these things happen, you could be lamenting for days. Sounds like your taking it pretty well. Let them go. Always time to make some more high scores. Memories are what count!

1.2M! That's very impressive! I seem to have hit a wall at a 640K.
Heh- ditto; looks the it's a common "support group" issue- "Sore shoulders and lost scores".

Interesting; I've never heard about that. I did the 4xAA to Lithium battery conversion thinking that was all I ever needed to do to retain the high scores and settings. Got a link to any specific info on a NVRAM conversion, or is it just swapping out the SRAMS with NVRAMS?

Thanks!

The NVRAM ICs have a different package and pinout than the original SRAMs, so an adapter is required.

It's intended prevent the high score loss associated with using a switched power supply. I'm not sure if it still helps when using the original power supply.
