...all at once. The game started giving me garbage on the screen when I turned it on starting a few weeks back (looked like a reset screen). I would get the, hello I'm tuned on, the knocker would go off and I would get garbage on the screen. I would turn it off, wait a few seconds and turn it on and it would be fine. I moved my game room around last night, got Qbert to it's new home, turned it on, I'm turned on, knocker and garbage. This time when I turned it off and on again, it came on but no knocker and no sounds. Played a game, jumped off a few times and still no knocker. Tried it again this morning and still the same. I did a search but couldn't find this specific problem. Anyone see this before or have an idea where to look? Thanks!

You've got some sort of power problem. Both the knocker and sound are on the +30v supply which explains why they die as a pair (check fuse, measure voltage, use schematics to trace through the circuit)

The garbage on screen could also be cause by poor power on one of the other voltages. If one portion of the power supply has failed, it's possible the rest is in rough shape. So start there.

Yeah, definitely sound like the 30V is gone.

Probably an issue with the power board.

I'd PM RIPTOR. He is the Q*Bert guru and sells all the parts to repair a bad board.
Good luck!

Working through the schematics...

Thanks for the advice. It was definitely what I was looking for. I'm working through the schematics right now and have already pm'd Riptor. I thought it might be the power supply since the two died simultaneously. I just hope that it didn't damage the sound card when it went.

Do you have a filter board in it? If so, have you reflowed ALL the header pins? Also, check all the header pins on the Power Supply adn reflow those if you have not already. Cold solder joints an those boards can make that game do all sorts of whacky crap........

I'm going to do the pins on the filter board while I have it apart. Tested the voltages and I get .1v at the +30v and the other voltages are +12.1, -11.9 and +5.7. Totally lost the +30v.

Make sure you do them all no matter how they look. Hit the ones on the PS too, all of them. You would be surprised how many little cracks there can be in header pin solder joint.
