I was digging thru my extra insulators(for the Lost Highway's utility poles) and forgot about this one insulator that's just a little different.
Its a pole to ground (stabilizer wire) insulator, which is mounted halfway between the pole and the ground with two separate wires.
I made a quick run downtown to see exactly how they are mounted. I used 2 lengths of garage door track wire, ran them thru each end of the insulator, gave em a few twists and then tied off each wire to itself with small pieces of scrap wire.
I used a large staple to secure the wire to the pole, and a staple gun to secure the other end to the top of the molding behind the hot water heater.
I also had to make a "L" shaped bracket to stabilize the pole; keeping the new wire and insulator tight at the same time. I just screwed the bracket into the pole itself and into the ceiling with 2 screws. You can kinda see it if you look closely.
I also switched out 1 insulator on each pole(4 total) so none of them match. This one has the brown porcelain on one side and the clear glass on the other.
One more thing, the other wire hanging down from the clear glass insulator is a "broken" line to symbolize that the power is out on the "Lost Highway".
I love doing this stuff, just thought I'd share....
