Lost Highway Arcade Party aftermath...with pics!

Awesome time again, but much too short. Thanks for the party Johnny-boy.

OK.. I have finally recovered from an evening of debauchery in the middle of nowhere... and will now post my pictures and commentary...

To say John's basement is 'an experience' is to commit a gross injustice. Its amazing and although I have seen pictures of it many times, it is actually a treat for all the senses.

Thanks for inviting us all, the door prizes, the attention to detail (I can't believe I was playing Asteroids Deluxe AND listening to Aldo Nova at the same time again), and most of all your friendship.

Lastly, please excuse my poor little phone's non-flash pictures. (I was there to play games - not be a photojournalist)

1. Descent into the depths of fun...
2. Neighbor kids playing old skool (there are only 400 people in this town so this must seem like Disney World to them!)
3. The "Lost Highway"
4. "Lost Highway" phone booth.
5. My son, Jeremy, taking advantage of a lull in the action and trying out the Centipede

1. This dude was somewhat ominous. He didn't speak all night, was never more than a foot away from Missile Command all night, and generally looked like he expected trouble at any minute.
2. Spent some time in these very cool chairs. Probably the only items in the place actually older than me.
3. I kept looking at this mural and I was reminded of Agents Scully and Mulder AND "Road Runner" simultaneousy. Was there an "X Files" episode like that?
4. The turnstile was a nice touch.
5. These strange poles were everywhere. The house seemed solid enough. (for a house in the 'middle of nowhere') Maybe they aren't load bearing.

I LOVE the utility pole! That is bad ass....
Where'd you get that "danger" sign on it?

How cool is it to have games just sort of 'materialize' out of thin air? Better yet, John's arcade is such a magical place, machines don't fail and become unavailable... they multiply and beg to be played. He even has a machine that gives you Skittles and Reeses Pieces... I KNOW there was a Unicorn in there somewhere too!

I'll end this run of photos with this...

It was a blessing and an honor to share this time with all the KLOV folks who showed up, with Steve B (Pacman champion), and John and his awesome wife. Don't think I have shared time in an arcade with not one, but TWO world champions.

Cross that off the bucket list!

Allen (alejandromad), it was an honor to have you and your son here for the party. My only regret is this: as the host I end up spreading myself too thin. Heck, you and I could've chewed the fat all nite about the Navy alone. We'll have to get together again soon.

Thank you for the military radio. I will post up pics this week. Also, I will get to your Asteroids board this week. Thank you for coming! It wouldn't have been the same without you.

Thanks...

Hey John...

Big thanks to you and your wife for hosting a great party... It was nice meeting you and the rest of the guys.

You have an awesome set up... Great job.

Dave

John,

Great party once again! We all had a great time, especially the kids. Macallister who is 7 said Sea Wolf was his favorite. Emerson who is 5 liked the one with the spiders and caterpillars (Centipede). Fletcher who is 11 liked a bunch of them (Moon Patrol, Mr. Doo, and Gorf).

They thought that was the coolest basement they'd ever seen!

They were also excited about meeting the "PacMan guy" and get copies of his book.

I had a great time and especially loved finding my groove in Moon Patrol and getting on the arcade's high scorer board. Did my score hold up?

Was good to see everybody again and meeting a few new guys.

Thanks to John & his wife for opening up their house for another great party!

Erik

Dave, thank you for coming and also for helping haul down Sprint 2. It was great to have you, and please come again!

Thanks Erik. Glad you and your family had fun! Your MP score held up.....see you again soon man

Thanks for the comments fellas. I just love to work down in the arcade and think of ways to decorate and make it cool. I wish every member of klov could come and visit. I love this stuff!

Couple of statistics:

Gun Fight had about $25 worth of quarters in it.

My candy machine took in $13.75

Like a fool I forgot to check Sea Wolf's coin counter pre-party (its on freeplay). I think it did as well as Gun Fight.

Both jamma games were constantly occupied as well, since the continue feature is popular....
