I picked up this LOTR LE last Friday and started placing orders for some mods, protectors and other fun stuff.

I got parts in the past couple days and installed some of them.

1. Installed gold flipper buttons to match the trim
2. Installed shaker motor
3. Installed Pinbits Orthanic Rebound Jam Defender
4. Printed and installed wrongcrowd.com's freeplay and instruction cards.

More to come.....

I would seriously add a PotD deflector. The random ball bounces off there will ding the pf/shire/plastics, and the game flows far better with it.

This game benefits greatly from a lot of tweaking. Adjusting lane/orbit guides makes the difference between a "clunky" and a "butter-smooth" machine. Also, the post behind orthanc (top of shooter/orbit lane) can be erratic. Either put a rubber post guard on the deflector, or loosen the bracket under the pf and add washers below the lower mounting screws to tilt the deflector into the lane more> and a glass Palantir is way better than the plastic wormy one!

I just got a LOTR a few weeks ago as well. Awesome game! Put in new stronger flipper coils, frido sword shooter rod...potd mod...protectors...etc...

Only put in new coils if it needs them. In my experience, the LE does NOT need them!

The coils in the LE seem to be just fine to me. I think they have changed them since the original runs.

I have some more items to install at some point.

Cliffy's
Pinbits figure mounting plastics (I have most of the figures)
POTD plate and figures (I am going to light them but not sure how I want to do it yet)
I think that's it for now....

I am going to order the pinbits POTD deflector as well

Barry

Mine needed them. Its a standard LOTR. At least one was changed out in the past...it was smaller than the other. Can definitely tell an improvement. Stronger ball strikes...but smoother at sane time. Extremely deep game. Figuring out new stuff every day!

Don't know if you are on pi side, but pinhead Hemiorange99 makes potd mods that have fading leds and plug right into the extra mollex connector down in the lower right corner. Pmakes the harness, attatched to mount plate, and attaches the figures. All u do is attach to machine and plug in. Very nice mod.

Quick tip on figurines: I bought a huge lot on ebay. Mounted them to the plastics with museum putty. You can use any figurines you want, improve on the original layout, etc. (I like mine better: there's a kneeling archer on the sword ramphandle, firing at a ringwraith (on foot) at the top of the sword ramp by the ringwraith target, a smeagol squatting on the plastic just below the shire upkicker, etc.) Museum putty holds solid, removes easily and won't mar the plastics, and looks cleaner than the ties or plastics-with-holes. Had enough figurines to populate 2 friends' LEs too!

Yeah I saw that and it's cool. I like the fading so I'll do something like that, but I want it to trigger when the ball is up there and turn off when the ball is off. Not sure how yet and I;m in no hurry. - Barry

He can do that as well. I had to choose between on all the time...or just when ball is in the path...

The problem with his "ball in the path" version is it doesn't stop flashing until the ball drains. Not a big deal, but I want mine to be different.

I want mine to trigger when the ball exits the VUK and trip the fading lights in sequence. First guys fades in/out - 2nd guy in/out - 3rd guy in out and off until the ball exits the vuk again.

I found some info on how to do the individual circuits, but I'll have some experimenting to get them all to work together.

Install the DMD anti glare film today and it works great! No more glare - Barry

I added a few more things today.

Cliffy shire protector
Shire target decal
Cliffy green post
Gold flipper bats
Palantir target sticker
