I have been wanting an MK2 cab for ever. So a long time ago I created a custom search on craigslist and bookmarked it. Whenever I had some extra money I'd look on craigslist to find a good deal. They were always either crap or way too expensive. Anyway, Friday I looked just for giggles and saw the listing for $350. I called the guy up and asked for more pics. They only had one pic up and it was super low res. He told me it's fine but he doesn't know how to open it and the joysticks need work. One doesn't work at all. I go over that night and sure enough the joystick on the right is totally screwed up but figured I could fix it no sweat.
I told him that the cmos error that it was throwing bothered me (turns out it just needs a new battery), the joysticks would need replaced and it would be a pain to drill the lock so I only offered him $300. He said no problem. I asked him if he had a truck and he said yeah. I offered him an extra $10 if he'd help me get it to me house and he said he'd do it for free.
That's about it, I got the back opened and everything is in order. It needs some cosmetic work but I'm really happy with it.

It works perfect. Monitor is nice and bright. Reds are a little strong burning big deal. Needs new joysticks. Thinking about replacing the buttons too. Tmolding could get replaced. The side art is a little faded but meh. So stoked!!

Nice!!!!!!!!!! Do not get rid of it or you will regret it. I sold my 8/10 shape umk3 and regretted so much that i bought it back for 200$ more than I sold it for

Nice MK. Good price.

About the pics....

I love it so much man. It needs work though. Everything is easy and doable but I'm nervous about how much replacing the side art is going to be. It's pretty faded. It still looks good but I'd love more than anything to get this baby looking factory.

Speaking of fixing it. It does need new sticks. People go back and forth about which are best for it. Most say to get HAPP competition, others say they are too sensitive. What do you think?

When I got mine I replaced the marquee, cpo, midway ,logos on the side of cp,new tmolding, repainted the front, new buttons and i think i used new happs comps, i know they were only like 8.99$ and they feel fine to me

Dude, that's super clean. WOW.

When the MK cabinets came out they included the Happ Competition or was it the Ultimate joystick? Most importantly they replaced the regular spring with the "heavy spring".

So I can just get the happ competition sticks and buy heavier springs? I don't see spring anywhere on ggg

get the happ comps, I like em more than any other. Im debating on switching my buttons from concave to convex..

*Some things to note, mk1 came in 2 boards, y-unit and t-unit, the t-unit is i think harder to find but its kick harness matches the mk2 kick harness. the y-unit will not, I solved this by wiring my control panel to an amp connector and then wiring about kick harnesses to the other end of an amp connector this lets me plug and play when I swap mk1 and 2 in my cabinet.

I did. Ordered them from GGG. I tried getting ILs as I heard they were the same just better quality but lizard lick was all sold out.

Why would you want convex buttons?

Also, yeah I am thinking that down the road, I'd like to switch between mk1 and mk2. Not sure how or anything but it's a though.

Anyone know how expensive it would be replace the side art on this thing? Where do I even start?

Is it possible to get a repro or anything, you think?

You really should try to find NOS Artwork and only replace your side art if you absolutely have to. It would almost be a crime to Remove original Mortal Kombat artwork to put new reproduction artwork on your cab lol

but this website has some:
http://www.gameongrafix.com/index.php?search[terms]=mortal+Kombat&search[mode]=any

I don't care how good the repro is. nothing beats the feel and quality of NOS artwork
