Looks like Stern "Rolling Stones" pinball machine is official

Not that I'm really in the market to buy a spankin' new pin, but let's just say that if they were coming out with a cool themed pin, such as zombies, Potter, Metallica I would potentially save $ to possibly get one. But rest assured that a RS pin won't see even one quarter from me, unless the sound is turned OFF!
Why, if they want to go retro, don't they make a full-out Maryilyn Monroe pin????

I guess the stones are about to announce their 50th anniversary tour, good enough reason for a pin.

a better band to make a pin from would be queen, or stern should come out with a pink floyd - dark side of the moon pin to coincide with jack's wizard of oz pin :D

I don't care if it's the 75th anniversary tour - BAH!
Now on the other hand a freaking Floyd pin would kick some ass. I was actually thinking that to myself on the way home from work when a Floyd tune came on the radio.

video modes would be cool!

i remember the bally rs pin was at a local arcade back in 82-83.it sat right next to xenon.
xenon almost always had people waiting to get on it.
i don't remember anyone ever playing rs.i dont get sterns decision to make this pin.
I'm not even a tron fan but I'm excited about a tron pin.

Not trying to be a dick but if we're using acronyms please refer to the Stones pin as TRS because RS already belongs to Roadshow :D
I hate the fact an acronym is being burned up by this title anyway heh

The Stones on tour?? I suppose they could do a remake of "Pinball Wizard" to use as the main music in the pin. (" 'cause we're the wheelchair wizards. Where'd we leave our teeth?")
Not going to get any money from me.

A Rush pin would definitely be a hit. People are paying $100 for LAWN seats on this tour. The band is already in the Guitar Hero franchise, too.

How about choosing a theme that is relevant to TODAY'S SOCIETY? The Stones lose relevancy in about 1982 or so. This is a stinker for sure. The only reason I can think they chose this turd of a theme is that it HAS to be low cost to license.

Are people REALLY getting excited about a 50 year Stones anniversary? To me, that says "These dudes TRYING to play like they are 20 are actually 70!!! Aka... FREAKIN' OLD!"

Yeah... a Primus pin WOULD be awesome... but not commercially viable. Think about it... a Les bass riff every time the ball hits the rubber... NICE.

;)

Naw... lets think of some relevant pin themes that have not been tried. Not saying these all would work... but they'd probably work more than The Stones!

American Idol Pinball
"Global Warming"
Afghanistan Assault
Real Pinballs of New York City
What Not To Hit (play off What Not To Wear)
Illegal Assault (as in the border)
Michael Jackson (can't believe this hasn't been done frankly)
Rockin' Radio (a rock radio theme)

...more?

Many of those themes wouldn't require ANY licensing costs either. As much as I hate the term..."Global Warming" would make a KICKASS theme... think of the toy possibilities, etc...

I think it's funny that you're complaining about something being old and irrelevant on a message board dedicated to and passionate about the old and irrelevant. :)

The Rolling Stones are more relevant in today's society than pinball or arcade games!

They want to do a Rock 'n Roll pin. The last one was Elvis, and before that Guns 'n Roses. Those games have remained pretty popular over the years, because music enthusiasts think they're cool (and they're pretty good games, too!). Unfortunately GnR and Elvis were running on older hardware that wasn't as good in the sound department. Now Stern can make a rock pin w/ CD quality sound.

It's very difficult to do a rock pin due to music licensing...but the Stones thought it was cool and wanted to do it...and Stern is hoping other bands see the Stones pin and say "Hey, we want one too!" ...we all know Metallica loves pinball, so maybe they'll beat the factory's doors in w/ their guitars and demand their own game!

I just wonder what stern is going to do to make this pin interesting. other than the lips and tongue, the stones don't have the kind of imagery associated with them like pink floyd or other bands. what will be the theme, album covers? images of the band throughout the years? chicks that mick fucked? drugs that kieth used? I'll have faith that stern will manage to come up with something cool.

as for the band, did rock and roll become irrelevant while I wasn't paying attention? because the rolling stones ARE rock n roll. the difference between the stones and every other old rock band is that the stones still sound just as good today as they did way back then. mick still has all his vocal range, kieth looks like a zombie, but is somehow still alive, and playing just as good as always. why should they hang it up. I hope they have a 75th anniversary tour with them sitting in rocking (wheel) chairs playing acoustically.

watch the recent concert film that martin scorsese did with the stones at the beacon theater. (I can't remember the name of it though :D) they still sound great, very few classic rock bands can say they still sound as good as they did in their prime, and none can say they have been rocking longer than the rolling stones.
