looking to pick up a new pin within the next few months...

...don't really have any particular one in mind. i'm just looking for a decent pin within my price range...not really looking for an EM right now either.

probably looking to spend less than $500-600 or so....guess that probably puts me in the late 70's/early 80's range, which is fine with me. the only pin i currently own is a flight 2000, which i really enjoy playing.

some that have come up recently near me: gorgar, firepower 2, genie, and lost world (though the CL ad said the sound was non-working on that one). thoughts on these? anybody played any of them? anybody own them?

any ideas on the prices for these? i think the gorgar was listed at $575, the firepower 2 at $675 (but has decent wear on the playfield and the back glass has a lot of spiderweb-looking "cracks" through the artwork), the genie was listed at $600, and that lost world with the jacked up sound was around $350 or so.

like i said, just looking for thoughts on the above games.....kind of interested in that firepower 2 and the gorgar, but i have no idea if those prices are in line or not.

thanks, fellas.

I have played all of those machines and they are all pretty good. Personally, I would jump on the Lost World. It is the cheapest option, it is a widebody, and it has beautiful art. In fact, I'd jump on the Lost World even if it was the most expensive option.

The others I'd buy in the following descending order:

Genie
Gorgar
Firepower II

i have a lost world but not working so cant repley on it but i got it because of the theme .i owned and really like playing gorgar the coolest thing to me is the heart beat as you hurt gorgar.i played firepower 2 was ok and its very fast.

best deals in order are

lost world - even with no sound, 350 is a great price
gorgar is the next deal. has some collectibility being the first pin with speech, but the theme does turn some away as they dont like the devil looking character around kids
firepower 2 - there are many of these out there, i would wait for one in better shape than to pay the price of what you said on this one

genie does nothing for me and i would only buy it to flip it, which means i would have to get it for around 200 orking to make it on my buying list

thanks for the responses everyone.

MTZ, what all would be involved in fixing the sound on the lost world pin? expensive? difficult? etc?

re Oryk :and by lost world i bet you are picturing paragon which is a bit more on the awesome side then lost world. but lost world is still a cool game with nice art.

op: then again if none of the current games turn your crank keep playing that flight 2k and sit on your money till a more interesting title pops up.

You are partially right. I was thinking of Paragon when I mentioned the wide body but I was thinking of the Lost World game when I mentioned the art. I get them confused easily, maybe I should just buy one of each to ensure I get it straightened out...

yeah, that's probably sound advice. i usually try to find a vid on youtube of the gameplay before i get too serious into a pin, since i didn't play a whole lot of them growing up....the gorgar looks pretty cool, but as a poster above said, the devil theme may be a bit much for my young kids (wife wasn't too big on it when i showed her). found a vid of firepower 2 and it looks pretty solid, but a lot of stuff i've read on it leans towards people not being overly impressed. but hey, i really like my flight 2000 whereas someone else may not. it's all opinions.

there was one that i was really eager to get my hands on but it got sold before i could snag it - fireball classic. i think it was listed for $300-350 and looked to be in pretty good condition. vids that i watched look great. oh well.

Of those I've only played Gorgar. It's a decent pin from that era and I think the art is great.

i agree....the more i thought about it though, it just won't work for me right now. probably not the best theme for young kids.
