I may have a couple of repairs to do in the near future for someone. I was planning on buying a couple of cap kits for the monitors and since i was already paying shipping i was gonna order a bunch more to have on hand. But then i got to thinking that of buying the prepackaged cap kits for $5-6 each, that i should maybe just buy bulk caps.

does anyone have a list of the caps that are included in most monitors? i think i still have the papers from kits from a WG 4600, WG4900 and WG7000..

also, i dont know much about the different brands that are out there, so which are recommended and where should i get them?

That is pretty sweet Dokert.. i only see one problem. With the exception of the GO7 pots and the Motorola XM 501/701 high temp every single one of those has caps on backorder, so you can't make a complete kit :(

That happens from time to time with Mouser.

yeah, that is what i was thinking.. but looking at it, i dont know if it is worth the $1.50+ savings or not (for the low temp). for one or two kits, probably not, but on the other hand, if i am looking at buying 10 kits or so, then i can either spend the same amount (approx) for the high temp kits, or save about $15 for the low temp kits.

hmmmm

Bah!!!!

Mouser carries caps from a lot of different manufacturers. It's not hard to find a cap that is in stock.

Stick with the good manufacturers and you won't have problems: Nichicon, Panasonic, and Xicon are ones I've had great success with. Buy from a reputable distributor such as Mouser or Newark and you can avoid the counterfeit caps that have flooded the market.

Bob is the way to go if you are just going to buy 1 or 2 kits.

I bought 168 kits for our local group and it made the shipping roughly a quarter ($0.25) per kit.
