Looking to update Pole Position (Maybe Pole Position II after this is done) so that it has free play with attract mode and does not start until you press the gas pedal. The free play on it is kind of weak. I don't own a Pole Position so if you have one and also have an eprom burner to burn new roms let me know. Currently I can only test in MAME.

Keep up the good work Jason.

I really appreciate these types of things, as I do have my games on free play.
We're lucky we have the guys we do willing to work on these.

Email me the file and I will test it on a pole II when it is time.

I have PP and PP2 but I have no burner. If someone wanted to burn me some chips I'll happily test both. ;)

ok, it looks like there is some interest so I will take a stab at it this weekend.
Also, it's not just a freeplay fix. If you have it on coin mode it will not start until the gas pedal is pressed. Not sure why they thought it was ok to just start the game over and over again if it has credits.

Yep I am in on this one and let me know when your ready to test the pp1's! Thank you for this awesome news.

Now a lil derail... Kinda

Is there a way to modernize the pp2 hack with more ready available parts?

The proms needed to switch the boards over are very hard to find. When you do find them they are really expensive. I was wondering if their was anyway to use (pals with a piggyback board) instead of proms or something. Then maybe combine some of the eproms to make this hack for pp2 better.

Looking even further down the road how about a 2n1? I know there is another game that is considered pp3 but the name escapes at the moment. So maybe a 3n1?

idk if its possible but it sure would be kick arse...

Yea I know.. I read the thread you made on those switches. They are kinda cool I must admit and I was giving them some thought as well. I also like the idea about putting a credit switch in one of the change returns.

Proms can be replaced with eproms if you make a small adapter board.
You can even combine them in many situations (i.e. two proms on one eprom).
You have have two 4 bit proms on one 2716 usually, you just need to wire up the lower 4 data bits to one prom socket and the higher 4 bits to the second.

Not sure a multi is needed since PPII is more or less a superset of PPI, just my opinion

You know I forgot about that aspect of the pp1 track being in pp2.

Then we have the bootleg called top racer...

There is another game the is widely regarded as pole position 3 but I have not been able to find the name of that game. I am still looking its here somewhere...
