Monitors have always been my downfall in what I can and can't repair. I have about 15-20 monitors that refuse to work in some way or another, most that just don't even do anything when powered. Would it make sense to first recap all the monitors to see if it would resurrect them or is there something that I should look into besides just recapping a bunch of them.

as mod said, depends on the model. it could be any number of things though. it could be bad HOTs (horizontal output transistor), dead flybacks, B+ (secondary power supply) is out of adjustment and the monitor is stuck in HV shutdown, the HV shutdown can also be caused by bad caps as well.

voltage regulators, filter caps (the big ones), you name it.... it can also be broken adjustment pots, if they're broken they could cause certain shutdown conditions.

the model helps though, make sure you don't supply the numbers off the tubes, that has nothing to do with the chassis board that drives the monitor. those are just regular TV tubes that the monitor manufacturers used. if you're uncertain about how to identify the monitor chassis, take pictures and post them.

there's a page here with a listing of common monitors, try matching up what you got to these: http://arcadecontrols.com/BBBB/monitor.html

best of luck to you.
