This is my first post on the forum. I got referred here by another member. Sorry if this is in the wrong section. So here's the story...

When I was a kid (less than 12 years old) my step-dad had given me something he found somewhere. I'm going to contact him to see if he remembers where. Anyways, it was a black sign that said Meltdown on it. It wasn't until a couple days ago that I realized I should try looking it up online. So I did some research and was only able to find a picture of it on someone's blog site... which happens to not be working today! That site was:

http://www.hive13.org/?cat=3

It turns out I have the marquee sign for this game. I can find absolutely nothing about it other than this picture, including who made it, how old it is, etc.

If you can't see the site like me today, I uploaded a photo of the game here:

Any ideas about it? The only part I have is the sign at the top that says U 235 Meltdown. Searching online for it is tough because all I can find is either atomic energy/weapons pages, the Meltdown flash game, the Meltdown game for Atari or the Heavy Metal Meltdown pinball game. I also searched for it on this forum, and other arcade machine websites and came up empty.

I tried, but I need more info, or closeups of that pic. Any idea on manufacturer?

And that's better.

Game is made by ICE (Innovative Concepts in Entertainment) - the same company that made Ice Cold Beer and Chexx hockey tables.

http://www.icegame.com/c-368-all-games.aspx

The only list stuff for their newer games, but I'm sure you could contact them about it for more info....

Wow that larger picture sure helps. I recognize the ICE logo (only from recently) and I am going to have someone contact them. This is turning out to be more interesting than I thought!

Looks very cool! I've never heard anything about it before, but something called U235 Meltdown is right up my alley being a nuclear fanatic!

If anybody finds more information on this game please post it up, and hopefully I'm still checking klov at the time. I'd love to see one of these in action, sounds weird how you "adjust airflow through the center tube" to control up and down and centering of the sample...

Just a little bump. I got some more info about Meltdown, and why no one seemingly knows about it. Here are some of the facts:

- There were only 50 made
- 46-48 of them were destroyed!
- one person had contacted ICE in the past year or two looking for replacement parts (there were none)

So any existing Meltdown games are extremely rare! I am waiting to hear back some more information about the product so I can add it into the database. When i brought up the question, the guy was like "Oh my god.... Meltdown... let me tell you a story about that."

Their best guess is that the marquee I have is from one of the destroyed unit. I am going to also need to find out if the guy from the blog is also the same guy who called ICE about parts.

Wow

Ok so I just discovered the rarest game I own :)

I have one of these, got it at an auction in Vancouver BC back 10 years ago or so. Probably should pull it out and backup the rom this weekend. No wonder I have never been able to find any info on it.

There was a working example of this game at FreePlayFlorida this year. Perhaps someone who was there and took pics will see this thread and add them.

Yes I realize this is an ancient thread, but given the supposed amount of remaining survivors of the title I figured it was worth a bump. Kudos to the FreePlayFlorida team for putting together another amazing show this year :beerchug:.

They have a very very similar game at Santa Cruz in the casino arcade, can't remember the name thou...

Edit take that back, it looks similar, but when I did a search it's this..ImageUploadedByTapatalk1416880445.165664.jpg

It is fun as heck thou! I pump money into this thing everytime

i wonder who's game it was at PAX in 2013? maybe David drove his down there from Seattle or the one from Florida showed up at PAX but if not then that would indicate at least three of 'em running around.

it's a pretty neat game and one i wouldn't mind owning but since i get to play David's on occasion i have no desire to dish out the kind of money that it would take to acquire one. i think he has put it on location at his new arcade/game store Let's Play Cafe.

Anyone looking for info get a hold of me

I have a 100% complete dedicated u-235 meltdown if anyone needs anything(down to the coin door lock sticker) let me know. I have full schematics and everything. Eventually I am going to do a full documentation of everything including backing up the roms since everything for this machine is non existent. Hope to have something to show soon. Detroit doc

Anybody know why they were destroyed?
