I have a 19K4901 that needs to be degaussed, but I do not have a coil. All the coils I found online are around $40+.

Does anyone have one they would sell for cheap or if local let me use? I am suppose to head to DogPs party this weekend, but my plans changed and I might not be able to make it to the repair, and I don't wanna drag the monitor there if no one has a coil anyway... Let me know!

Thanks!
Chad

you need to degauss the monitor where it sits. taking it somewhere and degaussing it may not do the trick. moving the monitor is typically what causes it to go discolored.

and everyone charges $40 for these stupid things. I may have got mine at frye's for $35.

Can I use one of those cheap Wands I see on eBay? Or should I use the coil?

I bought one of those cheap wand ones. And they work. It's probably not as fast as the coil but it works. I got mine for like 5 bucks. And it fixed my problem. Only suck part is, is the cord is short, but get an extension cord and you will be fine.

Hope this helps

Thanks! I'll try it

I'll try the drill thing today. if that doesn't work I'll take a look at the tape eraser.

I do go to Hagerstown often since my grandparents live up there. I may take you up on the offer.

Just scavenge one out of a TV / Monitor

Like the degausser that is already on the monitor but is not working? I cant get rid of this green spot in the corner of the screen, but it seems to move around based on the orientation of the monitor. I dont have the monitor mounted yet, but I should get it mounted sometime this week so I guess Ill mess around with degaussing once its mounted.

I have used a solder gun and it work just fine! pull the trigger and start moving it around in circle in front of the monitor and pull back each circle.

Work great for me! (Just don't hit anything or yourself with it -- Its HOT!)
