Looking For Custom MK1 control board or vector image.

I'm looking to either get a hold of a custom MK1 control panel image with a run button or perhaps make my own if someone already has a scan of it. If I come up with something other people like I will gladly share it or provide it to Rich.

I saw the 6 7 button setup with a run button on here previously but I would like to maintain the MK 5 button layout (with run of course).

I am restoring my MK1 from a tekken 4 conversion to a multi MK cabinet. I have Rich's MK1 sideart sitting in a box while I do my prep work.

:)

I am looking also Avalon. I have a complete MK4 panel for mine right now and an extra MK4 metal panel so I will probably eventually get around to making a MK1 overlay using the MK4 button layout. If you come across anything else I would love to check it out.

The custom MK1 panel with 6 buttons that can be found on BYOAC is nice but I don't believe it uses MK3 or MK4 panel layouts.

Definitely not as mk uses an x pattern while that 6 button layout is street fighter style

Actually, digging it back up again it uses a 7 button layout.

Its a pretty good layout for mame.

I feel bad for any Mortal Kombat cabinet that sports one of those, and for any so called fan that is destroying their muscle memory by using one of those funky layouts. hey atleast you can block twice as much.

Yeah, I really want a run button layout for my multi-MK in my MK1 cab but I don't want that. I want the vectors so I can use the MK4 layout. Someone has them because they made these CPOS with them, but they aren't sharing. The only vectors I have seen are the LAI control panel.

are you sure those are vectors tho? they very much could just be raster drawings. sometimes you just have to do stuff yourself tho rather than wait for others (i've done it on a couple things)

maybe you can get a good quality scan of the mk1 cpo and use the LAI cp as the template... idk just an idea it would be a ton of work but by the time your done you'd be semi-pro i'm sure (or atleast have a good handle on doing another).

Its really not much work at all honestly. I have worked with photoshop and illustrator for years with my photography work. It just comes down to finding a good enough quality scan to start with. I have some scans of the Stick/Button overlays, the top dragons, the start buttons. I don't have any decent scans of the dragons at the bottom. Once I pickup my kids from school I think I will spend some time today looking to see what is out there.

What I did. I used the 7 button layout but move the middle buttons so you have the normal style mk 5 buttons and then the run button. Then added a 7th' above the block. So on mk boards there are two blocks but it doesn't screw with your normal layout that your used to for mk. Also you can hook up SF or MVC and have all the buttons your need. Plus having the middle button raised just feels more natural. Attached is my mod example. Of course you would need to use a new piece of wood. No need to destroy a perfectly good mk board. Also the holes wont line up. I guess if someone were to measure the spacing of all the holes we could come up with a perfect version.

If you don't like the 7 button version here is what the perfect 6 button mk1 layout.

That might be perfect for the OP but its not quite what I need for my application. I have an extra metal MK4 control panel. I want to use that but the button alignment for MK1/2 is different than 3 which is different than 4. Each set of Stick/Buttons are correct but P1 and P2 groups are spaced differently on the MK4 panel. Does that make sense?

Yeah I thought just the start buttons were in different spacing. As stated the spacing I have is off from the regular mk1 as well. All could be done you would need to get exact measurement of the holes and then do some test prints which would be a huge waste If it's off. Maybe we could throw it in photoshop as a different layer and line it up that way. As long as you have a good scan of a mk4 layout.

Ok so here is the button layout. I laid the MK4 panel over the custom MK1 panel. The red buttons are the placement of the MK4 panel. I am already beginning to rethink using the MK4 panel for this. Looking at it this way I really hate the lack of symmetry in the MK4 panel. It isn't a matter of just moving them over either....the button spacing is different also.

/shrug, I will work on it some and see what I come up with. I might just decide to make my own panel and use your 6 button layout. This cab will only have MK games in it so I want to stick with the 5+run.

Wow that's gonna take alot of work and I don't think it will turn out looking as good. We should find a good way to reproduce the metal plates with mk3 hole spacing on it. Pm me your email address if you want what I have in a Psd tiff jpg format. It's made of several layers so it's easy to reconfigure the layout. If you come up with a good layout just be sure to email me back a copy of it in case it's better than what I'm running.

Awesome! That's soooo close! I just very much like this 5 button MK style with run but those LP/HP LK/HK buttons look too close together. Does anyone have accurate measurements, or a temple for original mk1?

Here is the original CP from gameongrafix

Exactly. I don't want to do the 3 over 3 layout for MK seems wrong! I misspoke on my first post I meant 7 button.

I very much like the standard 5 button MK with run.

just wanted to throw out that I do not like all the CP designs where they don't say High Punch Low Punch etc. and have like the man doing the moves on them.

apparently both varieties were factory on MK2.. not entirely sure about MK1.

not 100% sure if I want to keep my MK2 cab or sell it. might want to keep to see if I can restore the sideart, maybe lol

It is my understanding that MK1 came both ways. The stick figures were on the later versions.

I just received a scan from a very helpful individual which has the stick figures. It has all the half-tone preserved and I am going to be modding it to have a run button. It is going to take me a while but I will post here when it's done and if you are interested I'll provide via PM.

After that, if I'm feeling adventurous I might put the written words back in.

Thanks

The stick figures were for international/oversea orders.
