Looking for artist for Ice Cold Beer bezel repro project

Just another update.

Kev has fallen very far behind but has made a new commitment to get this done. He will be emailing me progress every few weeks until it is done. If it gets off track again I will be moving to another artist who is ready and willing. I just dont want to dump Kev because he had life get in the way recently.

This project will happen!

AWESOME...Thanks for the update Darin!

On hold until I can find someone reasonable to print it.

When I committed to this project years ago the artist was supposed to be done within a few months. After trying to be polite and not riding his behind too much I stepped up the pressure with a deadline. Then another deadline. Then another... Finally I threw the towel in on him and that very same day the ass clown offered up the partial file to someone else who sent me his email showing the offer.

This KLOV member really screwed things up. The printer I was going to use is now closed for business and everyone else is too high. Ironically I did get a new lead today that I'm pursuing.

I also blame myself for letting this guy string me along for so long and I should've cut the cord. Glad I didnt end up using him. The partial file he completed looked great to me but when shown to one of my other artists he showed me it was littered with errors.

Wow, more name calling, Darin ... but now publicly? Not nice.

I apologized that the project has taken me so long but this ICB backglass just hasn't been a priority, and I get distracted by my wife 'n' young kids and, being self-employed, a myriad of other ongoing projects.

I've already invested $200+ for the scan and countless hours vectorizing the image. The file is practically ready and only have the light-blue 'foamy' half-tone layer (PIA!) to complete.

... and, yes, I sent Stu at CPR the sample after you 'fired' me last July:

"Its really a shame its come to this. You cannot say I havent been patient. I run a business and this isnt working out Im afraid".

Not a business venture for me. This is/was a hobby project and, per our little agreement, definitely not a paying job. You were frustrated with good reason, wanted me out and I wanted to see what my options were at that point. Was I supposed to throw my hands in the air and give up on my project? Not likely.

And I only sent you an 8.5"x11" piece of the layered vector file after my 'dismissal' because a pdf of the entire backglass image file could easily be imported into Illustrator and used without my consent. A little voice inside me suggested I be careful.

"Littered with errors" ...? Hardly. Extra half-tone dots under the black layers? Oh, and the beer glass' red half-tone still needs to be angled 45 degrees. I'm far from careless, or clueless, about vector art. It will look great.

In retrospect, it would have been wayyy easier and less costly for me to just wait and pay like everyone else, but I was excited about contributing to the arcade side of the hobby. Still am, and continue to freely help collectors, mostly local pinheads, with their projects. Admittedly, this was a bigger project than I anticipated.

*sigh*

Never intended to frustrate anyone; my ICB is glass-less too. Time flies. I'm very sorry all, for being a large part of the delay. Everything happens for a reason, I believe.

Anyway, the file I have is practically done and just needs an interested screen-printer.

I recently picked up a nice ICB but the glass is a 7 at best.
Installing a new CPO this weekend made the glass look even worse!

Add me to the list for when these get done!

I have a new printer for glass. If my Robotron bezel project gets off the ground I will have a serious discussion with them about ICB and use a proven artist Stu Wright who can knock the art out in a weeks time.

LOL ... ICB dependent upon the Robo Bezel ... damn, we're screwed.
Get ready for another "SH!T L!ST".

I would think ICB bezels would be a good seller. I have seen very few for sale that didn't have at least a little paint loss.

There's a guy over in Spain who does amazing restoration of 'arcade artworks' and he does them for FREE!!!

Maybe we can get him involved...

Did Darin define a minimum qty for this to happen? For KLOV/VAPS only then "maybe" less than 50 orders considering VAPS lists 50 members having the game?

Sure, many individual games are not listed on VAPS, but this glass is going to be expensive and quantities will not be in the 100's or 200's like previous runs (I assume).

Still the more the better, I'm in for one. :) (goes with the repro CPO and side art which is available; no reason to not have a perfect machine)

Very Common - There are 51 known instances of this machine owned by Ice Cold Beer collectors who are active members. Of these, 50 of them are original dedicated machines, and one is a set of circuit boards which a collector could put into a generic case if desired.
For Sale - There are 3 active VAPS members with Ice Cold Beer machines for sale.
Wanted - Very Popular - There are 25 active VAPS members currently looking for Ice Cold Beer.

I did not define the number yet. Don't want to get too ahead of ourselves.

I'd buy one for sure if this ever gets done. ICB bezels all seem to be flaky in spots.

So it looks like October for a realistic date to begin preorders.

If I fail you in October Im walking away for good.

Thanks for everyones patience.
