looking for advice / feedback regarding some artwork

Allright. I need some advice on the following.

I recently picked up a chase hq cabinet that is in good shape except for the artwork that has seen better days. I would say it's a 6.5/10. I have tried to see if I can find a source that can duplicate the artwork but have come up empty handed (even mamemarquees does not have a scan unfortunately) so I am looking for other ideas on what to do.

I thought about painting one side red and one side blue to match the siren colours by the marquee and getting Scott at Mamemarquees so design and print me custom sideart decals with the Chase HQ lettering and Taito underneath. DO you guys think this is tacky? I really love the artwork but since I am a picky person, I know it will bother me to no end if I leave it.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Here's a couple of photos to give you all an idea. Sorry about the way the pics are positioned.

Very tacky and not worthwhile. The art is faded, but it's the original art. Except for the small chunk missing on the right side it's in good shape. If it was my machine, I'd leave it alone until a decent repro was available. You could always scan in the better side and work with some of the guys here on color correcting it and getting it printed.

Very Miami Vice. I wouldn't paint it - I'm a big fan of original art. Scan in both sides, then fill in the gaps on the good side with the scans of the bad side; it's just mirrored so with some time on Photoshop you should end up with a pretty good result. Then get them printed.

Chase H.Q. cabs are a dime a dozen, because the board fries a lot in these. I'd just get a better cabinet and transfer your stuff over if you're picky about that. There's tons of these out there, because it's not really easy to convert to anything else, and once the board dies the entire cabinet is useless. I think I've broken up two or three of them over the years, and I never part out cabinets. I make exceptions for Chase H.Q.'s, Hang-On's, and Pole Positions, lol.

Perhaps they are more common in the US but here in Canada they are very difficult to find. The most I found was 3 in one single warehouse and they all had their issues. Artwork was a bit better than mine but either the footboard was completely missing or they had bad water damage and from my experience, I rather deal with not so good artwork than water damage anyday.

What causes the board to fry? Given that you said that, I don't have too much hope now :(

Oh well if you're in Canada of course that makes things different.

As for the board, I've just had a TON of bad luck with Chase H.Q. having graphic glitches. I'm sure they could be fixed, but finding somebody that works on these kind of boards is pretty tough. I've probably seen 10 of them, maybe 8 of them the board was either dead or had graphic problems. Lines through the image, missing roadway, etc.
