I am new to this forum and I am looking for either a Dragon's Lair or Space Ace conversion cabinet in decent shape. I have been scouring ebay and craigslist but no luck so far.

When I was a kid I was extremely fortunate because my father owned a video arcade in southern Rhode Island - it was quite the small town hangout back in the 80's! There were so many games I loved playing there - Zoo Keeper, Q-bert, Star Wars, Major Havoc, Outrun, Gauntlet and many others.

Two games that made a very big impression on me were Dragon's Lair and Space Ace. I spent countless hours playing those games until I mastered them both. I loved the graphics and the way the stories unraveled. Years ago my dad's arcade closed and he sold off all his games. I asked him to hold DL and SA for me but at the time he was leaning towards selling them - they were his games after all and I had just started college so I didn't pursue the matter.

Recently those games came up again during a conversation and I was both surprised and delighted when my dad told me he decided to set both DL and SA aside for me after all (sweet)! I live in VA now but my wife and I were heading up to RI for a visit earlier this month, so I figured I would take a look at the games and make arrangements to get them home.

When I finally saw these games I was shocked at how bad they looked. They were stored in an area that was not climate controlled and the humidity has messed with the cabinets. The SA cab can probably be salvaged but the DL cab is in really bad shape (lots of swelling, warping, etc.). No Dad-bashing please...he did a very cool thing by saving those games for me and he hadn't looked in on the contents of that storage container for years.

Sorry I don't have any pics but I am going up to RI again next month so hopefully I can take some then.

These are the ACTUAL games I used to play when I was a kid so I want to know if:
1. Is it worth trying to restore the original DL cab?
2. Or does it make sense to get my hands on a used DL or SA conversion cab in decent shape and transfer all the electronics into it? (I think this option makes the most sense since I possess absolutely no woodworking skills.)
3. Most importantly, do any forum members have a DL or SA conversion cabinet in decent shape that they are willing to part with?

Thanks for the quick reply! That is a DL2 cab, which I suppose would probably work just fine (hadn't considered a DL2 cab as an option). If possible I would like to find an original DL or SA conversion cab (hope that doesn't sound too picky) since I would like the game to keep it's original appearance. dj dns only lives about an hour away from me so I will still ping him anyway to see if he knows anyone that might have a DL cab for sale.

Thanks again!
