Why am I having trouble finding these?

well, cheaply- I've seen some for 2.40 each and that's too much.

I'm slipping them into some Space Invaders boards for RAM. Centipede uses the same RAM and I have about 4 or 5 of the machine pin ones, but I'm going to need maybe a hundred of them.

They don't have to be machine pin, the dual wipe sockets are good too (and most likely cheaper).

I could have sworn somebody posted about replacing SI sockets in the past week or so, but my klov search-fu must be lacking...

Thanks a lot-

I'm in for 100 which will bring them down to .45 each. If anybody wants to ride along, I can mail them out after they arrive.

Let me know today sometime.

I would be down for 50 if you can spare them. I had a hard time finding these myself.

Could use them for my 5101 RAM adapters :)

I'd order from anyone besides Jameco anyway. My last 3 orders from them have either been poorly packed (like soldertail parts in bags all bent to hell), or a mix of rejects, or subsitute parts that weren't compatible. Everyone makes mistakes right? Finally by the third order, I'd had enough.

If you expect any return credit, you have to cover return shipping for their mistakes and wait for their technical dept. to inspect them- BS!

I've bought from Jameco, Digi-Key, and Mouser for years, guess it will just be those last two from now on.

You can try Bluestar as a new 3rd option. They are reasonable price-wise and pack well, but they are a little slow in shipping. Very good resource to pick up parts to stock, but if you need something yesterday, go elsewhere.

I think they just throw in whatever they have in stock, kinda like unicorn. Then they say 'preferred vendor' like the other stuff is builders-grade or something. :p

I know it's juvenile, but I chuckle every time I see their name.

+1 It reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Kramer accidentally gets a proctologist's license plates at the DMV.

That price sounds way more reasonable. I think these are around 10 cents each at my local electronics surplus store.

hmmm-

$9 per hundred versus $45 per hundred.
Can anybody convince me to go for the higher priced ones? I'm a cheap bastard...
